Did you go up PCT trail? Good snow from TD water tank to drifter. Only a few yards of dirt at the bottom.
Went up PCT from ASI. Plenty of snow back there still. Looking forward to it getting cold again.

Side note, as is what always happens......Getting sent to London on Friday for work, which in turn means that it's going to dump for a few days while I'm gone. You're welcome for the late season refresh. Hopefully it puts down a good coat up high to extend the corn season.

Any pictures/beta on Drifter? I'm possibly going over there on Tuesday if we get a couple inches.

Still looking for a loaner AT setup for a 5' 7" female with around 24.5 boot size, for this coming weekend, if anyone is located between East Bay and South Lake. And, it's not because I'm too cheap to rent, but because most places have already shut down their operations for the season, ugh. I'll gladly trade some quality beer and cash for the favor. I'm gonna call REI and see if they've shipped all of that gear up to Washington for the summer or what not.

you're telling me Backcountry and Sports Exchange aren't renting AT gear any more? Alpenglow in TC? Not as convenient, but certainly doable...

Maybe Turx will loan you his Alpine Trekkers?

MIGHT be going to KW this weekend, and if I do I MIGHT be able to bring along some borrowed skis and skins she could use a regular boot with. It would take a lotta hoover maneuvering......

Okay, I *think* Sports Basement has me hooked up with an AT setup - they had to order stuff from the warehouse and move it from different stores, so fingers crossed that they don't screw that up.

    sports basement is the worst.

they have like two sets of AT gear total among the different stores, nobody knows what the fuck they are doing beyond basic rentals - they have 'a guy' they call to deal with anything beyond rental packages, but i've never actually heard from him despite leaving my boots there for over a month last year.

they've fucked up more than a couple trips of mine due to their stupidity. STAY AWAY.
i've rented from the backcountry before, doesn't help if you're heading to SLT or sonora pass or whatever that's not near truckee but might be worth the drive to know you're getting solid gear.

fyi i was impressed with the Village Ski Loft in Incline Village - we stayed at a friends place a month ago, went in there and the guys knew their stuff, no egos, surprised to find a cool shop in incline village...not sure if they rent AT gear though sorry for the tangent.

No, thanks for that warning. Looks like I will have to project manage this for them then. They have 161 Manaslus with Dynafit bindings. I need to make sure they get the various boots that might fit my gf in the store at the right time and maybe just do the fitting myself. Based on your warning I will show up with my own tools so that I can dial in the binding position and settings myself, haha.

Any shop worth their shit/with half a brain wouldn't let you do this for liability reasons.

Let us know if Sports Basement does though!

Lol i think thats their one pair they have, pretty sure thats the same setup i got. If you call them and make sure that the skins fit the skis, there are two of them, make sure they have them in the store and get a person that can confirm they are there AT THAT STORE and that they will be there when you come in, etc etc. All of these were issues for me at one point or another with them.

I spent hours trying to post pics here. no luck. I just poked around the upper water tank and plenty snow. Easy tour to drifter and the north aspect is deep to the bottom of the run. Looks like an avy choked off the ravine at the bottom so it's a shorter run now. I hear Sugarbowl closed so that should be fun.

Who sells Leukotape? I found it at walmart but only 30 dollar rolls.

I just switched to AT gear for spring and should have some.

    You're funny
Schralp, you are going through mucho hasslo, at the fag end of this disapointing season.
Hope she's gonna be worth it...
Why not boot up something worthwhile instead? (Dunderberg?)

Hey telemike: Cinders & me *should* be at KW on Saturday. Tini will prolly be there on Sunday (we hope to be at Squaw).

I should show you pics of the S face of Dunderberg, but you wouldn't recognize it because there isn't one lick of snow on it!

Anyways, I'm not disappointed with this season. Sure it isn't 2010 or 2011, but I surfed great snow and tick-list lines off the Dana Plateau this last weekend, rode some new lines and variations of my favorite point-to-point tours in the Carson Pass area last month, got some West Shore bluebird pow in February, got a lot of resort corn and touring corn, practiced skiing on two planks between fun rocks at Kirkwood and Alpine, used airline points to score powder in Utah and Jackson, and now I'm going to have an awesome weekend tooling around Kirkwood and the CPSSR with my girlfriend.

Well worth the hassle in a low-tide, but super fun season.

Kwood had the 'K' factor today. Not really sure what that means, but it certainly kicked ass! Yes it could be deeper, but a legit 6+, with plenty of wind blown pockets much deeper. Maximum fun and no crowd at all.

    Mt Rose noob question.

I am done with Squaw weekends. Thinking of getting a Rose pass, would just like some info on how the mountain works. Do they get the chutes open quick after storms? Like if it storms overnight will they be open the next day usually? That terrain looks amazing.

Would appreciate any mid-week ski buddies too!

Somebody sure is grumpy today. And I think the proper expression if just "for fuck", no "a" required.

I'm pretty sure I will be up at KW Sunday. Inbounds and/or sidecountry. Would like to find a partner for Monday for either CPSSR, Dang laps or Sonora (if they get snow down there). PM me if you might like to ski. I'll take pics and hoot and shit.
