yeah but sugar bowl doesn't look like corral loop or sidewinder does now. they still have tons of snow (or did you get the order backwards?).
was that Matt skiing with you?

PD. That was Matt. Order was right. Were you walking with nacho and your other dog Saturday near corral / sidewinder? If it was I almost asked you for change. Gold outback with two bikes on roof and a sup taxi.

The three of us should go ski some time and let the dogs meet. Shoulder is doing much better since my dog cut me off near the bench a few weeks ago. Damn chipmunks get him distracted.

yeah that was me. the other dog is healing up from a sickness that really bothers her when she gets a lot of exercise. thus the walking and not biking then.
looking forward to the next system.

I don't suppose anybody here has some 120cm combi race skis they want to offload? I'm looking for my 7-year-old daughter.

AKbruin, I have some 120cm Fischer RC4 Race Jrs with demo bindings. Topsheets scratched to hell and in need of a tune but otherwise good. You can have them for cost of shipping or free if you can pick up from near Sugar Bowl. If you're interested PM me your email.

I thought it was a pretty well done feature. The portrayal of kirkwood as an uninhabited local ski hill had me thinking of the old days, but not necessarily the present.

In that Kirkwood section, I would have liked a picture of 'stovepipe' and the surrounding terrain (I have plenty of them) instead of a generic 'too' close up shot of Darren Johnson IMHO.

I searched the website and came up blank so guess I'll go get a copy. UnofficialAlpine has a quick comment on it. I'll be interested to see what the angle is on KSL/Vail and the locals' vision for the area. As UA says, the corporate action of taking all the passion and individuality created by locals and using it to market condos and expensive food is typical of most corporate colonizations. not just limited to Squaw, not just limited to ski towns. that's the way of the world and in this world we swim with some big fishes. Seems like an article just begging for some content from MRA.

My copy hasn't arrived in the mail yet, but I'm sure it's better than that piece on Kirwood in Skiing Magazine where they quoted some regular hacks.

For those really jonesing for turns this is what the bottom of Dipper chair looked like today.

Pro tip: You can ride the Fire road right from Stagecoach to here if so inclined.

I just moved to Tahoe in February. I've heard people talk about "fire road", but not sure where it is, guessing it's near stagecoach lodge?

Is there anything ride able around Heavenly? My split and myself are jonesing for some turns. Checked out Boreal today, but just not worth the $$ for what was available.

It's a gated fire road so you have to either hike it or ride your bike up it. If hiking just go up right under the lift you will hit the road you will see it starting to wind up hill to your right. On bike you can head up a road that goes uphill past eagles nest, goes past some gates and new big homes and gets you to the same spot under the lifts. Your looking at going all the way up to the mid mountain lodge to get to the photo above though.

November 11 and the Tahoe thread is 2/3 of the way down Page 2. Something is wrong with that picture. I shall not talk about Mammoth turns Saturday with various mags and friends. Someone will remind me it's not in Tahoe.

Vets and I killed it at Boreal today. Lap after lap of Castle Peak goodness. Things apparently were much less crowded than the weekend. The temp reached 60° by noon thirty. If you got off the lift and pushed, then straight lined, you still ended up pushing to get up the hill back to the chair at the end.

Sick of this sixties in Tahoe shit....

Great skiing with you today - even though it felt warmer than some of our summer skiing adventures.
Getting some lift-served turns in was still a pleasure.

Ugh....forecast is looking...well...not even going to go there. I'm busy touring elementary schools for my 5 year old amyway...so everyday is basically a powder day right now.

Doing my part to bring the snow. Truck is clean, Subaru is clean. Skis are tuned and the new bike should be here any time soon. I'm sure as soon as Kent takes it out of the box it will snow....
