Montana Mags - In Big Sky area throught next Saturday. Been here with my wife for the last few days, got to break free for a couple of tram runs/challenger loops, and checking out moonlight today for a half day before I put my wife on a plane back to AZ this afternoon. Spouse-free the rest of the trip, anyone interested in showing me around for the next few days? Promise not to slow you down... Send a PM, I'll check back this afternoon after skiing and airport-running. Thanks!

I'll have to post a few when we get home. Man...the Headwaters have been skiing great the last couple days. Took today off to rest some aching legs, but will get out again tomorrow. Then off to Jackson for a couple days!

To all the greats folks at MLB, thanks again - you guys are the best!

A few shots from last week- should have some more but simply haven't made our way through them all. Thanks to Tone Capone for getting us up to this really cool corner of the ski world.

^^^^fkna rad pics. love me some cooke city stoke, would love to spend more time down there....

    Anywho, Montana Mags quick ?
Lookin to ski lift served terrain tommorrow. One of the reasons I love Helena is its centrality. The touring has been very good recently, but lookin to charge a bit harder than usual. Bridger looks like it's been gettin some snow, as has MLB, and LT.......
Sooooooo......... If you were me, and could ski any of these three, which would it be? Some things to consider....
    1. I know MLB the best, cut my teeth on Headwaters but havent been back in two yrs, and have heard they have been skiing very well.... Bunion can you confirm?
    2. Lost trail + Pow thurs = good times. love me some LT pillow lines. @ three hrs from Helena tis the furthest away of my choices, but i know the terrain very well. The lynch pin on this one is (a) how much snow have they gotten since sunday and (b) how much has it warmed up down there.
    3. Bridger. Did it snow up there today? I do not know Bridger well at all, especially the ridge. Any Mags willing to show a Helena JONG around up there? I'd bring down growlers from blackfoot and be equipped for safety briefings if someone was willing to step up. I wont slow you down.

Solo trips can kind of blow, but that's the plan..... what say you mags.....
    Obligatory Helena stoke:

Can't speak knowingly for BB conditions, however it was VERY warm on Sat. and has turned awfully chilly.

The southerly aspects on Lone Mountain are pretty hard/firm.

The Northerly aspects are pretty good.

Yeah somebody (me) had to maintain order with the heathens, and somebody had to represent and act smart, hope my guys made an impact.

I have a very full schedule from here to the closer with 3 free ski comps a rail jam and another patrol exchange so I'm not going anywhere.

Guest room is yours if you and the Grand Poohbah or Driggs need it, I will even wash the linens.

I guess this is more northwest Montana, but this thread is the closest we've got. A quick vid from our gaper scavenger hunt:

Well, it's been 2013 but fuck it I guess? Here's a few from Saturday with poppa capone at MLB. Good chute skiin but much adventurous wandering will likely leave the average overly ambitious recreational skier dry docked. Best wishes to the FWT competitors!

I get a little nervous takin the old man on the hike but he always ends up less scared than me! The fixed ropes are a nice touch.

    drool drool drool:

    Nice snow in Three Forks.

Smooth windblown pow in the lower gut of Hellroaring at the end of the day:

Thanks to Bunion and crew for managing that God forsaken scree heap for the ordinary skier! It's no Bridger Bowl, but it's always good for a cheap thrill
