^Fuck'n sheeeet. I sense another Rocky Mountain Passport in my future next year along with a bunch of couch time at your place lol.

Things are skiing nice around this side of the Rockies but unfortunately it's touchy as fuck. Went on a bit of a poke / tip toe to see what kind of mellow stuff we can find / scoping mission in an area with the wife and found some of the better tree skiing in this part of the Rockies that I have done. Tons of pillow lines and nice cliffs to hit in the area also for when things settle out a bit. Can't wait to explore in there a little more.

To get there all you have to do is head and hang a right at

Pass Powderkeg is finally on Spring hours, which means the roommate and I will be stinking up the Castle parking lot every Mon-Wed in March. Blue jackets, I'm on Lhasa Pows with a broken thumb, roomie is on ON3P Jeffreys. Ask for change and we'll go lap the park all day.

Stoke will follow once I can hold a camera again.

    hey, mntlion,

Co-op has Ommegang gift-packs with three 750ml beers and a glass for $39.99. this is cheaper than getting just the beers by themselves.

everybody else, sorry for the noise

Just got back from 3 days in Rogers with a Yam trip. Didn't see anything moving or touchy the first two days but kept to mellow, low consequence terrain. No real standout surface hoar layer in/around where we were. Lots of great skiing but with the permit areas closed, everyone was pushed into a couple small areas...Saturday we had a group of 13 below us! It was also pretty warm on Saturday, it hit O degrees up fairly high in the afternoon so the snow was settling quite a bit.

Sunday the permit areas opened up and we headed up the Bostock area...very different story here. Dug a pit at 2000 m in some open glades and the hoar/facet/crust layer was a standout and buried under around 85 cm of storm snow. Compression test failure on 2 taps (CV) on that layer!! Lots of whoomfing off the skin track and pretty spooky.

For a backcountry jong, it was very educational being out there in those conditions with a guide...I wouldve been inbounds had it not been a guided trip. Our guide (Dave Stark) was awesome and managed to find us good conservative skiing the whole weekend.

Perhaps the best thing about being a Rockies skier is being close to the Selkirks...

Page 2? This will not stand!

Hooked up with theteo, went into probably the most gnarly entrance into a chute at KH (if I'm incorrect, I'd sure like to know [coffin doesn't count, it's gnarly all the way]). ~45 minutes of downclimbing, and passing skis down by rope. Steep and deep on the good end of the chute.

Finally got to the coffin/ B4/ slapshot area of Feuz. Not sure how I haven't seen it before, did all that just get opened this year? Pretty insane pillows out that way for those who have balls of brass.

Had my first rebound/front flip on landing cliff into tomahawk this season. Lost my gopro.... momentarily. Ahh, I know, such a let-down

Separately, almost rolled off the second cliffband of Punter after failing on the first. Might have to start dialing back (a bit) unless I want this season to end up like the last.

You should post more detailed directions on how to get there instead of being barely vague, cause it's not quite quiet enough in there

    Agreed!

And that stuff has been open for two years. Buddy and I helped map some it out three years ago before patrol opened it.

Go run some of those pillow lines, there is a little surprise for ya at the bottom of a few of them, haha

Well, you'll see a tree on your right. Not a very big tree, but big enough to be a tree and not a shrub. You must stop there and say the code phrase ("Praise be to Ullr") and then some rocks will move out of the way. Then you have to GS the traverse at mach looney or the yeti from Skifree will come eat your scrawny ass. Then go down the hill and jump off something for crying out loud!

Are you talking Punter in Superbowl? No cliff bands on that run (hence the name). The cliff bands you speak of are on Rip the World (shittiest run name ever). If it's the same place that we're talking about, Rip the World has these two breastish like protrusions with a little cleavage between. Both tits can be hucked and the cleavage is usually bony unless covered with one of those cleavage napkin things they have er uh I mean snow.

Hello TGRers. I'm heading to Fernie between March 17th and 23rd and would love to meet up with someone that can give some tips on advanced skiing, and wants to ski some pow together.

Yep, that's the one I mean. Pretty much right off the peak and down to the titties. Shame that there's no signage and the KH maps suck so much, I've been calling it the wrong name for a while now.

The less signage and marked runs on maps the better. What the hell is wrong with you?

Yeah, totally controlled and it's not obvious it isn't with the big wooden fortress fence, orange rope, area boundry signs and HUGE avalanche warning are you prepared sign which makes it all the more dumberer.
