Is it just for a few days? Maybe rent skins from MEC or U of C Outdoor Pursuits?

    I think it's $8/day or $36/week at U of C. Don't know what MEC charges.

Oops, forgot you are in Canmore, so the gas to Calgary would kind of make renting too expensive.

    Nothing at Switching Gear?

I noticed a few of a reasonable width in Switching Gear in Canmore lately.. (used to always just be loads of 50mm skins in there)

I dropped the last chute on redemption ridge into Feuz before the huge cliff. At the bottom there is a 20 ft drop to the right that gets you right beneath the big cliff where there was fresh powder. I dropped it, landed perfectly took a hard right turn to go under the cliff, and as i did that the whole hill slid with me. It happened very quickly and by the time I realized what was going on a wave a snow hit my back and buried me. One guy just happened to be watching my line and came running over and dug my face out so I could breathe, while he called for help. I'm still trying to get a copy of my witness report and the guy's name. He saved my ass big time.

My knee was injured (later found out its a damaged meniscus, all ligaments are believed to be intact, but swelling prevents a full diagnosis) so I had to get skied out on a stretcher.

    I'll add more details later.

EDIT: I am glad to be able to post this today The feeling of getting sucked in and then being totally useless is something I don't ever want to experience again.

If he wants to buy instead of rent I know of a pair for sale - twice used G3 Expeditions, not sure on waist but they were too narrow for a 123 waist so they could be about right. $75.

I can lend you skins that will work but barely, and he'll hate them. Cut for Rossi XXX... 90mm under foot (178cm). Better than nothing, but not by much.

PM if interested. Free if you return them (eventually).

    Holy shit!!

I never question patrol any more, but this reminds me of a time was skiing Feuz with a friend and his wife and she asked me if I thought the slope was safe. My reply was that if patrol opened it, it was good to go... maybe not. I like the idea of skiing with a beacon in bounds (batteries are cheap), but it's still alarming that there have been 2 slides in that bowl in 1 week.

I'm glad you made it out to tell your story.

East of Superbowl? Terminator run proper? Or are you talking about those gullies/avalanche paths S of T1/T2? Be careful South (below T2, T3 and beyond), I have seen that shit rip pretty big in past years. West is good behind T2, nice spines but it cliffs out at the bottom. Really, East?

That slide North in Rudi's was pretty savage. Ripped right to ground and ripped the ski suit right off the guy. Cut a few laps up there to avoid the lines yesterday. Rudi's was busy with a bunch of smellbertans without any proper gear (read no beacon, shovel, probe). Better yet, 6 of them charged down all at once like a big posse (I know rudi's is pretty safe but hopefully this isn't their approach on most aspects). I've had my fill of punters and gorbies for a long while now.

Pretty sure I saw the guy from the Rudi's N/E slide in overwaitea wearing an air cast and only his base layer in the grocery store that evening.

Seconded. I was wondering WTF when I read that as well. I've seen some big releases there, two just across what is now the rope line.
Flying the Bluehouse colors in Western Canada! Let me know if you want some rad skis!!

What were you guys skiing east of SB??
Snow! Just kidding. We've skied some of it before but from much higher.
The only thing we've skied over there was one of the paths unless you are talking about the trees just next to the rope line but that doesn't require skinning??? You guys skied the same run but not from the top??

You slag on a lot of people for a transplant "local". Hopefully you don't spend all your ski days being pissed off about where every one else is from or what their skiing ability is?

I guess everyone needs a hobby.

T2C, how's it looking for a final price and payment deadline for the ski camp thing? The sooner I pay the less likely I'll let anything work-related distract me.

Heading to Fernie for the week, so I hope conditions are decent. The missus is looking for blue groomers to cruise, but hopefully we can find something a little more fun/deep to ski. Never been there before, looking forward to it. Going "all out" by staying on the hill, even!

Any recommendations for the upper bowls that my missus could try without scaring herself?

Hey I don't care about ability or what your on or what runs you ski, unless you are a traversing timmy, then I'll probably toss a yell at you. I have a shit eating grin getting faceshots like the rest of us. I just comment on the punterness as there has been a holiday rush (or perhaps rash) of that, I can't apologize for the fact that most tout that their from Edmonton and Calgary; it's like they want you to know.

Rudi's slide was the first bowl up (i.e. if you were skinning up it would be the first one you drop on your right). It's just rocks with a wee bit of snow and parts of ski suit now.

Grizzly shoulder was skiing well yesterday! Nice temp and the sun was glowing all day.

3.5 that went to ground so if it was thin before you can well imagine now.
Sounded like a jet was passing near the resort.
