Well, Heiko is still viewed as some sort of God by many people in Fernie. Maybe he will be running the faith-based mountain school.

I do think the name Heaven's Gate is a poor choice. Don't these guys remember the movie Heaven's Gate? One of the biggest box office bombs in movie history.

Or the Heaven's Gate UFO/religious cult that committed suicide so they could board the alien spaceship?

I'm home now after a couple months in hospital. I should be up for some biking/climbing in the summer, but I'm not even allowed to drive right now.

Ever hear about the people in sports who drop dead? I did that, but I was smart enough to die in a group of doctors and nurses.

Good to have you back! Missing a season of skiing is totally worth it when compared to the alternative outcome.

Canyon Creek was money, face shots all the way down! Although we pretty much slayed it from Stairway Chair to west of Ozone. Also skied a chute off of W Ozone that the buddy I was with hadn't skied for 13 years as last time he skied it he watched it rip to ground in front of him, all the way to the valley bottom while he was solo. He made me go first.

As for Ozone, xmas chutes bony but Girlfriend was skiing well, not anymore unless we get all that fresh they're calling for next week.

Been watching that and keeping my fingers crossed. First day of 2012 will be spent hungover in a cat...would love to start the year out with a face shot or two.

    Merry Christmas gents!!

I'm in Vancouver visiting the wife's folks. So we decided to hit whistler, snowed last night and all day today. Pretty good Xmas day. Next weekend hungover beside fatmike in a cat. Great end to last year and a great beginning to next year!

    Hi all, luker turned poster.

WTF is up with that fernie resort?!?

The reason they haven't considered a name change is because that RIO dude listed in the 'Team' section is the Sole survivor of the original cult of the same name.

He agreed to leave the cult shortly before the mass suicide to spread the word after the rest were gone.

    Yikes.

Killer thread btw. Hitting Revelstoke for a week in Feb. Woohoo.

Merry Christmas one and all. May the rest of 2011 and all of 2012 be very, very, very snowy.

mtaylor - sorry to hear, I hope your recovery goes well and you can get back on some skis.
