I was there yesterday as well and saw a texas tuck straigtline to nasty backslap off a roller to leg break and probable concussion. It was ugly.

"Undeveloped snow" is falling in the town of Jackson, but should be all snow up on the hill.

North of I-70 in CO should get 1-3" on Thu and again Sat AM as two distinct little storms brush by to the north. At least it's something!

34 degrees at 8800' and snowing right now. It looks like it's a balmy 29 @ 11300', which equates to some wet snow falling on top of a mostly faceted base.

    Be careful out there.

Sitting in brutal traffic on 70 just West of Georgetown. Some decent snow bands coming through interspersed with bursts of sun.

Rontele just said the same thing....the map I see still shows below average...is it just that it isn't predicted to be as below average? Map still shows wicked warm temps for that period so I won't hold my breath...but it's the little things we cling to I suppose.

Pretty much, but the change between the 6-10 and 8-14 day is trending in the right direction.

Didn't snow 8 inches. Incidentally, the pattern looks to change around January 10th. THE DAY AFTER BAMA LOSES TO LSU in the Natty Champ game. Looks like we have new forecasting tool for Colorado.

That article has the "Drama Drama DRAMA" headline and then goes on to say the S. Platte basin is 84% of average. How dire is that? Fact is average years in CO have weeks where the resort skiing sucks. Slightly below average isn't as good, but seems kinda right in the range of "normal" and "should be expected" if you live in CO. I love deep pow, too, but I've skied nice powder snow 4 of the 6 days I've skied this year and Colorado resorts actually kick-ass at making snow. Amazing how much terrain is open for a 18 inch base, or whatever. [/End self-talk to be excited about spending next week in Copper w/ the fam]

'98/'99 was a La Nina winter and the snowpack numbers so far this year are very similar to that year. Breck and Vail finished the season with 268" & 309" total snowfall, respectively. Hopefully, we can end the season with numbers close to those.

Quoted for absurdity. There are molehills on the east coast with more firepower than ANY area in Colorado. Usually we're lucky enough not to need it.

Not knocking it though. I'm happy to rock the groomers... Better than nothing. Although loose facets do ski surprisingly like pow! Just going to be ugly with such a stubborn weak snowpack for awhile for anyone looking beyond the resorts.
