    In case anyone missed it

I have reviewed an email sent by Taylor Scurfield that is insulting and abusive to the patrollers
involved, and expresses his pleasure with our dismissal in very insulting terms. This is consistent
wi th this threat to Chris Conway and to Charlie Hitchman that they would "pay" for enforcing
Page 7 of 9the Sunshine Village rules as against him. Out of respect for young Taylor Scurfield, I have not
attached that email here, although I note that he specifically says in his email, "I have a
responsibility to not be intimidated and bullied by low life losers who abuse what little power is
granted to them as ski patrollers"; "dont arrest the owners son and threaten him"; "I hope you
cant find a job"; and that our dismissals "were a blessing for the company". In light of the report
that he told Chris Conway that the patrollers were going to "pay" for thei r actions, I conclude
from this email that Taylor Scurfield was involved in the decision to dismiss the four Plaintiffs.

the emails from Conway to Derpak were pretty funny.
Not really trying to be on SSV's side (I know how retarded they are). But sometimes, in most job/careers you have to play the game at least a bit, know when to suck it up etc.
i.e. you just can't go sending emails like that to senior management ANYWHERE without some retribution.... seriously what was he trying to achieve by sending that to the big boss?

Good for him for not taking shit from them, and even better for standing behind his "snot nosed little....." comment LMAO

You are right Jamesp, and according to Chevy's affidavit in paragraph 16, "I felt that Chris Conway's email (the "Conway Email")to Mr. Derpak was intemperate and not helpful. As Mountain and Risk Manager, I spoke to Chris Conway at length, reprimanding him for this communication."

As to what he was trying to achieve, perhaps Chris Conway was trying let senior management that he believed there was a serious morale problem brewing. IMHO, the proper response would be to find out why a previously loyal middle manager would be prompted to write such an email.

It is considered unwise to shoot the messenger

Nothing since snow started to fly. Did all of the employees land on their feet? Kudo's to any mountains that helped them after this fiasco.

Some excellent "communications" on their website today:

    "Notice: January, 28, 2012

Due to down Telus communication services affecting business in Banfff and Sunshine Village, we can only process cash and credit card transactions today. This unfortunately will affect our snow report updates. Please except delays with credit card transactions. Updates will be provided throughout the day. "

Aside from the poor spelling and sentence structure, isn't Telus a sponsor of some sort? They sure didn't go out of their way to find any softer language for them

Is the case still in the courts?

I posted two links on SSV’s FB page and within 5 minutes they were deleted and I was blocked from their site. I didn’t really pay attention to this ordeal as it was happening but after reading all 9 pages of this thread I will campaign voraciously against these fuckers. Every time I see a patroller they always get a thank you and fist bump from myself and my wife as well, so to see this happen to the people who are just trying to make it safe for everyone really chaps my ass. So in short - fuck the Scurfield’s and in my opinion, the universe will take care of this fucking retarded family.

Just looking for mid season update. I came across this article and felt a general congress on the developments is necessary.

Did a day at Kpow over the weekend and asked about the Sunshine dismissals, and it sounded like things were still brewing.

With that said, all of the Kpow staff are running a pretty top notch gig. Will definitely be a returning customer. Will not be returning to Sunshine...

Idiots... No assholes will be assholes. Have not forgotten this and will never ski SSV again. Hope the patrollers get some compensation for their loses in there suit. Don't see how a judge can't side with patrollers decision. Not a lawyer either just saying plus Canada legal system a little diff than USA.

Some business school ought to use SSV as a case study of how NOT to conduct business in the new media age.

It's too bad it will end with, "Oh...the Scourgefields...they're still rich fuck-tards."
It makes perfect sense...until you think about it.

I suspect there's logic behind the madness, but I'm too dumb to see it.

Dear "new media" lawyer for Sunshine Village,

I read that you are tracking 42 websites looking for people who are boycotting your ski area.

I am one of them. Please PM me and I will tell why I will never ski at Sunshine Village again in my life.

hint: you fired your best Ski Patrollers and now I don't feel safe there. Plus that little Scurfield kid is a spoiled punk.

The lawyer in me reads this as

We want to raise the stakes for the individuals who sued us for wrongful termination (or whatever term you canucks use) in an effort to get you to accept our settlement offers. The cynical side of me says that the blasting of the son and daughter on line were personal enough that the guy may say I don't care if it costs me millions, I want to bury these guys that attacked my kids. They're certainly giving Talisker a run for the money on how to alienate their clientele. Should be interesting to watch this unfold.

According to the Calgary Herald, SSV is alleging that they lost a ton of seasons pass sales due to the support the 'trollers, SSV watch, etc pages and would like to get some of that back in damages.

Yeah.... It was all down to those pages.....

Will try and grab a copy of the claim... Got to be worth a read.

They lost my season pass sales due strictly to their own Facebook handling debacle. Nothing to do with any other sites. It's kind of funny cause I always figured they didn't really care about pass holders, only the day trippers and vacationers anyways, and I don't think many of those even know anything about the whole situation.

Based on the conditions so far this year, I was kind of wishing I had a SSV pass this year, but they have managed to extend my boycott for a while longer based on their own actions again...
