It's not so much the model year, it's the high mileage or meterage to keep the youth of Canada happy
I wonder what Greg has to say about AZ making the list.
did the owners ever pay separation packages to the terminated employees? that's required in canada for employees of their tenure, right?

Anyone from Canada have any info input on this? Does Scooby Doo post here?
Heh, anyone else get that? TGR.... j

Also, for the record. Don't know any of the defendants, Chevalier to Scoobie Doo, nor have they spread any sort of dissemination about Sunshine or the Scurfield family to me. I formed my own opinion that the Scurfield family and the management of Scumshine are bunch of complete fuckwits who are out of touch with employees, the ski community, their customers and Canada in general. They are completely undeserving and unqualified to be operating a ski area of such prestige in my national park. Boot 'em.

I know chevy and rowan and to be honest don't owe them any favours dating back to when my pass was briefly suspended and I started a semi boycott against Sunshine. (20+years) The pass was reinstated by a letter to the now retired GM who I knew a great deal better than Chevy or Rowan or the rest.
That being said what was done was wrong and I haven't spent a cent there since and don't see doing so. I'm amazed by those that would count chevy and others as 'friends' and still are big supporters of Sunshine. The Dive has seen it's earliest opening ever with a very low reported base and questionable experience and decision making (whose input) with their avalanche forecasters. I'm not going to and will not hurry to ski that shit thank you very much.
Don't even start me on how Ralph Sr died and the ensuing lawsuit there. As far as I'm concerned that family carries tons of shame a couple of generations back already.
I'm pretty sure Nuwest (Scurfield) bought control of Conoco Oil at one point before it all went horribly wrong the first time. Just like to see it go horribly wrong again and soon.

exactly L7...never liked the place, haven't been there since Fred left and this whole shitshow only confirms my thoughts...
what's orange and looks good on hippies?

If I had a dollar for every time capitalism was blamed for problems caused by the government I'd be a rich fat film maker in a baseball hat.

You are entitled to your opinion & decision not to spend cash there. Your view of the scurfields is shared by many, & its blatantly obvious that this whole thing was handled by SSV incredibly badly....
BUUUUT IMHO its a big call questioning the current snow safety crew's judgement AND comparing it to chevy/rowan's in the same sentence. Do you remember when the patroller was swept the length of Silver City & almost killed a few years back? I remember skiing the Dive a few years ago with a 2m crown the width of Sugar Bowl, & I also remember at least 1 skier triggered slide in the open Galaxy Chutes. Who's watch was that under?

If you're not skiing it then you should withhold ill-informed speculation and ignorant insinuations. Irrespective of the shitshow caused by the Scurfields, the current snow safety and patrol crew have done an excellent job with the terrain in the past few seasons in very trying circumstances. Having seen it first hand I have absolutely no doubt about their competence and have no hesitation in trusting the terrain they open.
The reason the dive has just had one of its earliest ever openings is because it DOES have a great base in there right now - opening day looked more like mid season than November.
I know avy gear is carried for a reason & that nothing is 100% etc... I guess my real point is I'm not convinced the current crew are any better or worse than the former crew...
Correct.... Different approach for sure, but who's to say better or worse.... I kinda like the new crew, doesn't mean I didn't like the old crew too....
I did not know any of the patrollers directly, I thought the whole handling of the affair was a mess, I post the documents as I like the idea of being informed and not just reading what Firby released to the media where he held an advertising account.... I still ski SSV.
I spent $670 on an earlybird pass and plan on spending under $30 all season on the odd hot chocolate when it's really cold.... Even on a 40-day season thats less than $18/day.... There ain't no profit being made from me.
