I'm in Calgary and looking for some people to ski with this season as well. Weekend warrior though, ski bummed 3 years in Banff but now I'm working for the man again.
I'm game for meeting up with anyone throughout the season. I've got a big 3 and can ski pretty much any/every day in winter. I'm keen to get some more BC in as well although my experience is limited.
hmm.. alright maybe I'll wait a bit to get out then. let me know if you guys are heading out in the next couple weeks.. I have classes mon-weds but can do thurs-sun. I'd be game this week
I'll be up to KH almost every weekend , some two some three depending on snow. I get the impression that Eldo will hitting KH more this year so the extra bed will be spoken for some weekends but if you want a place to stay in Golden, you provide food and beer it works for me. Haven't done much OB at KH but can almost keep up with Gripen when I ski with him.
Yeah I'm driving from CGY to KH, LL, Castle mostly this winter, with the occasional SSV day. Happy to do the carpool thing.
I'm from Calgary and just bought my Fernie pass throught RCR's website and was charged HST. In previous years when I ordered my pass over the phone I only had to pay the GST. I remember last year when I went to order my pass online the HST was added to the shopping cart so I phoned RCR and the girl I talked to said the website should only be charging GST for Alberta residents.
So, I just called RCR and was told because the resort is in BC they have to charge HST for everyone (which makes sense). That being said I can't help but wonder if the guy just told me that because he didn't want to deal with me or if that's really the case. Any other Calgreedians care to chime in? Did you have to pay HST or just GST?

Nope. It never been that way. In fact its always been the opposite.

2) if you are selling goods or services out of province, you charge the GST/HST rate based on where the goods are being shipped to. So, for instance, if your business operates in Ontario and you sell an item online to someone in New Brunswick, you would charge 13% HST on the sale.
3) If you are selling goods or services out of province to Alberta, the Northwest Territories, Nunavut or Yukon, which have no provincial sales tax, you would charge only GST (5%) on the sale.
^Ime this is not a supply of "goods", a pass is a supply of services, and the services are provided in B.C. The pass is a piece of plastic, it has no inherent value, its value is in its access to the mountain. I.e., Fernie does not come to Alberta to sell you their skiing experience. Arguably, it falls under services in relation to a location-specific event, the location being in BC.

"Take advantage of 3 free days on your first, fourth, and seventh visits.
4 Top Resorts
Take your free days at Lake Louise, Kicking Horse, Castle, or Revelstoke. Plus get $20 off full-day regular ticket price, during all other visits at any of the four resorts."
Card is $100, then days 2,3,5,6 are all $80-20 = $60, and 1,4,7 are free. $100+(60*4) = $340/7 = $48.50 a day, so if you ski 7+ days you are cheaper then last years $50/day. PLus you have deals at other hills too.

last years card was $100 and 2 free days, and all other days @ $50
LL tickets are listed as $80 on the site
I think fernie is similar?
castle and KH are cheaper yup
I'll be patrolling at sunshine. Anyone wanting to hit up SSV or LL on my days off - or just meet up on a day of patrol to take a run when possible - I'm down.

Sounds good to me. Thanks for the info. I remember last year going to LL, KH then to Revy for a long weekend and whipping out my various cards to the ticket lady, asking her in any of them work ther but in the end had to pay full ride at Revy. With Revy and Castle included this year that seems pretty solid to me.
