Alpine just posted on their facebook page that tomorrow there's going to be someone in both SF and Reno giving away a free spring pass. I'm not sure how they're going to announce it, but here's the link they provided in their FB post: http://ow.ly/i/9MOm

Here's the image in the post:

And I just realized I still have the KW voucher from The Way I See It and the AM voucher from Light the Wick.

Regarding the AM ticket, it is Midweek only per the text on the voucher:

"Receive one complimentary lift ticket to Alpine Meadows. Valid for the 2010/2011 winter season, Monday – Friday (Blackout Dates Apply*). Valid through 05/31/11."

can't imagine how awesome squaw is today.... although this java code i'm working with is pretty fun, too.
if you enjoy skiing steep lines in a t-shirt squaw didn't suck today... or yesterday... or the day before.

^^^ I know someone who is prolly interested in at least one of those!!!

Skied Rose today for lunch and it was AWESOME!

With that said wax the hell out of your skis because I almost went over the bars in front of a couple of fat chicks. Had I gone over they would not have been nearly as fat-interested in me and my dashing good looks! Now, if they were in their late 50s or early 60s I would have totally scored.

    okbye

This is the funniest thing you have ever said.

I've heard some locals mention something about discounted locals days at Squaw and Kirkwood once per month, but I can't find anything on either website.

Anyone got any information about that, or about deals at any other local resorts? (I know about the Alpine spring pass.) I'd love to get out and ski some more corn...

spent the last couple days down in the convict lake area where it seemed to get a much better freeze then we've been getting here. still some wintery snow on north aspects but mostly things are corning up pretty good down there. lines are crazy fat after our bomber winter so just about everything is skiable including lines that normally are not.

talked w/ some folks who were stoked we put an uptrack up morrisons east face so the next day they followed it and proceeded to ski off the hanging snowfield above the n face of n morrison and were speedflying all the way down to convict. the helmet cam footy was unquantifiable radness.

Wrong thread gimpy! Post up in eastside stoke thread! (that thread needs some love)

But this is still some awesome stoke. Did you, or anyone else get a look at S Face of Morrison? This had to have been such a fat year that I'm sure Mingori or Poulsen or someone else must have tried for the nutters line on the S. Face way left of the col entrance.

Did you get Pinner or Mendenhall?

yeah i know but i was too lazy to look for it. i'm confused as to which line is the s face. do you mean the n face of s morrison??? if so, then yeah its got a couple lines that look to go but dan's line from his book does not look to be in as the exit traverse doesnt connect.

wednesday we skied the east face of n morrison from the top, then back up to the col to ski the east facing falline beneath the col which was perfect corn and then back up to the col again to ski the n side down to the lake. pretty much perfect conditions as the mtn was totally socked in until we reached the col when it majestically popped bluebird so it didnt overheat from the morning sun.

yesterday we had the intention of skiing something on laurel and then back up minipinner to the bloody/laurel col and then skiing bloody to a car we left on sherwin creek rd. but it was waayyyyy too hot and sketchy to safely climb back up the east facing exposure to get to the bloody col so 2 of us skied the pinner and one skied the mendenhall and we called it a day. both lines skied well and were mostly clean except for some debris towards the bottom. mostly snow and minimal ice in the mendenhall choke.

this coming monday and tuesday look to be ideal conditions down there w/ hard freezes and sunny days. git sum!!!

A friend of mine is selling his Rad-Air Tanker 200 if any snowboarders need a ride for LBD. It's in excellent condition and he's asking $450. If interested, I'll be happy to put you in touch. The Tanker is an awesome powder board.

East face of Morrison wasn't wind hammered? What kind of snow was it? I bailed on the eastside this week thinking it was gonna be wind effected or warm mank everywhere. I'm over gambling on snow down there. Gas is too expensive. Last year was so much easier to get on big shit in pow all winter. This year was huge dumps followed by destructive winds and long bouts of high pressure. Next week should be more predictable as far as corn after this freeze. Hell if Laurel and Morrison weren't wind hammered there still my be pow on north faces above 12k!
Don't bother coming up and skiing tomorrow. It's probably gonna be all time worst possible conditions with a storm moving in. It's gonna suck until the sun comes back like gimpy was saying then game on!

Holy crap it is hot down here in Santa Cruz. Great beach weather and the bikinis are abundant. I know this is not a post about snow, but it must be said. Beach today, corn on Monday.

Come on - I for one miss your videos of ripping big lines on the Eastside. That one last year where you held the camera out in front (I forget which one - posissibly something on Split solo) was super cool.

Stoke is stoke. :-) I was lapping Highway 9 / Emigrant Gap / Bonny Doon today on the motorcycle and did a quick pass-through Santa Cruz. Saw no bikinis, but saw lots of speed! Weekend plans - moto ride today, ski tomorrow, mountain bike Sunday. Not too shabby.

90% of the people i meet on the eastside are from tahoe/reno anyway.

the wind hammerred snowpack is already real consolidated so you are riding corn/porn/windbuff/windboard. those were the only exposures we were on but i am guessing they all were similar and good if you timed it well. i am broke as fuck and i considered the gas money worth it if that says anything and i am in a hurry to get back.
b- anytime you want to carpool we can meet at the 7-11 in gville. pm your digits and ill call ya next time we head down.
