I need some mag help. Unofficialsquaw is giving away a jacket for the pic with the most FB shares by Sunday. http://bit.ly/gu7Xbx

If you are feeling kind, share the pic. You can delete it from FB if you dont want to celebrate how deep it was last week. The more shares, the more April snow we will see. (I'm hoping)

Anyone got some era-appropriate bindings for cheap that I could mount on these bad boys?

it pains me to say it but i think the best skiing in tahoe is groomerville. took my kids out of school early to ski yesterday and everything but the center of the groomers was sticky icky. today will be even worse. happy hunting

I have some clamps on 204s you could pull off. If I can find the ski and Schralph can fit another set in his roof rack. Note: they are markers if I am correct.

Or, you could simply go to craigslist, type in ski and find some free old skis. Actually, with a little bit of work, you could even find some decent (era app.) clamps. Nice sticks, btw.

Was looking last night for a bit. Wasn't finding anything of acceptable length (>200cm). You could pickup a shorter pair just to re-use the clamps though.

i guarantee squaw is awesome right now... kicking myself for not heading up now that i see those nice warm overnight temps.

i decided to finally stay in the bay for a weekend because (like a fool) i was worried today wouldn't be soft. at least it looks like i'll finally get a place after 3 months of living with my uncle....

i've never understood the whole 'must freeze overnight' mentality....
    Still waiting...

That is what I mean. Look for clamps. Trust me, finding 210s on CL takes years of searching. But old skis with clamps are easy and free. And if you are diligent, and know what you are looking for, decent (or what was decent in 1982) are pretty easy to find.

Cloudy down by the coast. Sun trying to break. Hope we get a few inches up high so the touring will refresh for Mon/Tues.

i generally find most ski days to be incredible.... and that the conditions i love the most are always complained about on tgr.

in my experience any day over 55 degrees is always great at squaw, regardless of overnight lows. the only exception to that is after certain late season storms like we had last year in may. they ski well for a day, but interrupt perfect corn.

i really can't wait to get my corn season rolling....

i wanna bring some of you guys to squaw on a 65 degree day with no freeze overnight... i don't understand why it's always good there and sooo horrible everywhere else.

it's all about low elevation and north facing slopes (although it didn't look too inverted last night).

    mmm...75 bowl.

part of the reason i'm easy to please is that i'd be perfectly happy doing 25 laps down chute 75 on a day like yesterday.

i heard from reliable sources it was good at squaw yesterday and have absolutely no doubt that was the case...

It's better than you think in the Tahoe BC right now

As far as conditions are concerned Tallac was RAD yesterday...perfect corn on se slopes early, sheltered pow in the cross and the top of center chute, smooth pornish snow in the west couloir...and yes, total mank late day on the bottom half of the mountain and lots of variability as well. Point is there is some great stuff depending on what, where and when you ski. Hopefully a Sunday night freeze+sun this week will work that magic. Found some good but also crazy sloppy snow way south as well on Big Willy early in the week. Spring is gonna be sick in the Sierra, go figure More pics/text on unofficial.

Trust me, imagine trying to ski but the snow won't let you. No winter snow, we hiked almost a full 1000 ft higher than top of Granite. Did a high elevation, north facing bc lap and it was scary. Rollerball metropolis. In some places, I postholed to my armpit and it was the same snow all the way down the hole.

I know what you are saying about not always needing it to freeze, but not like that today.

Pouring Rain at Spur at 2:30pm @ 8,000ft

    (did ski slash chute though....carefully)

Frush, I've got some old skis with Markers in the garage. You're welcome to them.

i know it wasn't the case last night (and i've always assumed this was common knowledge), but you guys do realize that it freezes harder at lower elevations 90% of the time during the spring in tahoe, right?

Skied Alpine today, I can sum it up in two words - Alpine Mank. The skiing was better last June than it was today.

Sounds like slash will have some deep slashes in it. How did the rest of the bowl hold up? Hoping to get a run out there later on Monday.

Only if there is an inversion, which there always is, so... yeah. What he said.
