Solo'd Echo yesterday and found generally warm and wind-fucked snow. There were a couple decent-sized crowns in the bowls on either side of the peak and school-bus sized cornices. Be careful out there.

" Terrible news. That is 4 treewell/NARSID events in 7 days for Tahoe:"

    - I went under in jacks bowl (Sierra at Tahoe) on Sunday and was revived
    - the older gentleman from the east bay died at Sugar Bowl in 30"
    - a snowboarder treewell fatality at Sierra at Tahoe
    - another snowboarder rescued in the backcountry.

Wait, I thought you were in Colorado skiing steeps that are vails back bowls?

So bummed I was at Diamond Peak for the Tahoe League Finals. Did get a couple of nice runs in, though -- Solitude Canyon was pretty fun and lived up to its name.

Oh, and interlopers, please take your dickwaving somewhere else.

The back served some sweet windbuff, all day. The the snow on the knob, counter's, and cliffs were $$$. I sure wish scott woulda spun though, I'm sure there was some great snow to find in the area.

    I nominate you to organize.

I vote KW or Alpine in interest of being able to ski to the car for beers and brats.

6'er, can I borrow your Kneissls this year? You know, I'm trying to like, step it up and all
(no I don't actually want to lose my knees on those things)

    RIGHTEOUS!!!!! FKNA!!!!

That's my favorite Munchkins line, but all three times I hit it (twice using skis and once on a snowboard) I had to break out the rope. When snowboarding it a few aprils ago, I ski cut it and got a nice lil 8cm windslab to go; it made a cool whooosh as it went over the cliff and hit the slope below. Bro, it was totally retarded bro!
    Great line!

Here's some stoke to whet the appetites of the desk-bound till your shots get up here:
First drop with Kylebot in 2006:

    Nearing the Tree:

    The Farmland

Second run was with Giomi in t-shirts in 2008 (his first steep run ever LOL but he onsight free soloed fairview dome regular route in under 2hrs c2c; his head is in the right place ).

He's been working on his turns since then...

And my solo snowboard mission in 2009...
WINDSLAB! But I'm an unintelligent retard who has never gone to real mountains so go figure

Replaced the webbing on that run, but STOKED to hear Malone shredded it proper!!!!

213 - so what is going to go on with the corn cycle this week/upcoming weekend down in the Eastside? How long to set up? Will the cold/clouds/winds this weekend f-it up?

BTW- "onsight free soloed fairview dome regular route in under 2hrs c2c" - HOLY CRAPOLA.

As far as Longboard Day, Alpine has extended their season to May 15, so there are options there. I'm down for it wherever.

Groan. I learned something this weekend - the KT singles line is for chumps and I fell for it. People just ski around it and hop in a second line farther down the hill.

At first I hated it and still think I do, but not enough to wait another 45 minutes.

666 needs a break with monkeyascot's younger sibling coming soon after LBD2011. You wouldn't want a snowboarder to organize it would you? (I have two weekends I can't make it)

Can't be closing weekend at Alpine (May 14) because that is the Mammoth Mini.

I suggest closing Saturday at KW (April 30) or May 7 at Alpine Meadows.

Is Alpine's mountain management going to be hard on us for the antics of LBD?

Alpine just continues to deliver this season. I'm fucking exhausted. Was on second chair on Summit this morning. D6 to Face was the fastest I've ever descended the mountain. So smooth and so fast. It just continued all freakin day. Met up with a non maggot Joe C (painting contractors from Tahoe City) and skied with him the rest of the day, eventually adding Julie from Estelle Sports to our crew. We didn't have a single bad run. Everything stayed smooth and yummy all day. High T was incredible when it popped. Second time out there we hiked to SP rock and got super smooth slarvy turns for a long way.

Almost everything was wind buffed and amazing. The stuff that was wind-scoured (with lots of wind channels and weird features) was firm and tough, but it was so easy to avoid. I saw someone ski Keyhole faster than I've ever seen it skied (three turns). I thought powder was the best skiing. Today may have changed my mind. So much fun, so smooth, so fast, so easy on the body. It didn't hurt that you could actually see where you were going for the first time in a long time.

    A couple pics.

Me coming down from SP Rock and a close up of me closer to the camera.

The hottest ski patroller you'll ever meet - Sasha - checking out a broken cornice at the end of the day on the boundary near Lower 40. It was getting a bit mushy on the lower part of condo run, but the beer at the end was worth it.
