Today was fun at Alpine. Got one quick run on untracked windbuff before a morning lesson. But the kids in the lesson were game and the wind packed snow kept them afloat so I get a few more fun laps in during the lesson. Roundhouse closed just before lunch, but Summit was open??? WTF? Summit is never open with RH closed (except late springtime). Took a couple laps on Summit after lunch. Vis was retarded low up top and wind was howling. The traverse over ABC was completely blind. It was worth traversing though. Palisades was incredible buff and smooth. Deer Camp and lower High Yellow delivered too. Got a couple runs with theetruscan too. Tomorrow's going to be fun if they can get more open. They haven't blasted Lower 40 yet, but most other routes have been controlled. We'll get some more wind-loading overnight, but it shouldn't be as dangerous as last night.

Riding with theetruscan (left), his mom (right), my gf on my son's skis and me gave a good local flair to the chair:

Top of ABC is all filled in. You have to duck as you cross under the cable:

Bottom of ABC is rather comical:

In any case, if you're ever really in this situation make sure you at least bargain in a couple of fluffers.

If anyone is in North Lake and going back to the Bay on Monday afternoon/evening, I could use a ride. Please PM or email me.

Tuesday during the day works too. Thanks.

I have an E-ticket for day lift pass at Kirkwood tomorrow that I would like to sell - offer me anything under 45$. If I don't get any offers I'll put it up for free. Had to go back to the city mid day. Lame. PM me if interested.

StormDay, abertsch (Nice to meet you.), and I were wondering the same thing, yet we continued to lap it over and over wondering when it was gonna close as the winds were ridiculous (assuming the winds were coming from a direction that did not impact their ability to run the chair). Spun till around 2:15pm. Practically ski on all day after the initial rush, which to be honest wasn't much of a rush. Apparently Roundhouse had some mechanical issues, which is why it was closed (not wind), it opened back up around 1pm.

Highlight of the day was the insane gust of wind that ripped through the parking lot setting off multiple car alarms. Had I not grabbed onto the car I would have been knocked down.

Did anyone see the double back flip off the big rock left of Diagonal on Friday? This at Squaw. I would like a video of this.

Another day riding the shortbus in the Rose BC with the Great Basin Gangstaz. Temps stayed cool and winds kept things buffed and refilling nicely for a fabulous time ripping turns in trees and amongst granite.

I heard Squaw laps were painfully acquired today. Ie, slow or long lines?

Curses. I seem to be stranded in Tahoe City. The circumstances around said stranding are convoluted and, as far as I can tell, related to bong hits and poor text message comprehension. If someone wants their gas paid for on the way back to SF tonight or tomorrow, let me know.

Ha. Yep. That was us shredding chair 7...yep, chair 7. You know chair 9 is a traditional triple and 2 year olds prefer high speed lifts.

My morning window was extremely gratifying skiing windbuffed on Oops with punani as the hordes decided to roll Wagon Wheel bowl off the ridge. Got three super-g turns down the Eagle Bowl ridge down to waterfall on my first 10 lap. First tracks down an air when they popped Eagle. I was content.

KW Saturday - Shot out to Jason, Dom, and Bill for trying to dislodge 1/2 of my ski pole from the chute next to Upper Cham. Apparently all that pole wacking wasn't such a good idea. Thanks guys.
    Sunday was better......

^^^ That would have been fun to watch. I picture huckage, with a pole tap.

So, can I assume that 4 remained closed and Kodak is completely bomb holed. What about that rock opposite? Back is feeling better, and I hope boundaries are open.

Mashed - call if you are headed up, and wear your pack onto the lifts.

While pole wacking.......the bottom half of my 2 piece pole shot out, down the chute, and was stuck straight up with the basket in the air. I've never seen anything like it. The three of them skied the chute, but it wasn't coming out. Had to down climb........disaster.

As for Kodak today, Dom hit it 3 times today. Vista T-Bar opened around 1:30.....but now chair 4 as far as I know.

I thought Squaw was painfully slow today......I had a ski window from 9-12, so I was feeling pressure when I stood in 25 min lines (I got 6 laps, but 2 of them were Extra-Bitchin and Far East....which also had lines ).

A bit of photo fun below.

For 100 pts, name this line. It isnt in Squawlywood, so has a bit of challenge.
--with the long lines Pete (CP1) and I started looking for some non standard lines to poke around on. I hadnt skied this in probably 5 years....and it is always fairly scary.

Line down C2 was untouched and good.

And I have never seen C2 look like this.

AND....a big thanks to Pete for spending the whole 45 min drive from Reno fixing my buckles!!
--I am not impressed with these new school Technica buckles, btw.

Got in the singles line at 10:15. Got on KT at 11:12. Bit longer than 26 minutes. Singles line was definitely the wrong decision. Evidently, the normal line was moving faster.

Singles line is now 4 lanes as is definitely not the way to go when it's busy. I would tell you where to stand for optimal waits but jahroy would kill me.

So huckwheat... Palisades session of all-time tomorrow? I am hoping for a show.

SPC-Thanks for the attempt. You all get GNAR Points for the straight line with more concentration on my pole than the rocks.

I down climbed it........had to keep the skis across my chest, and use them as an anchor. I'm sure it was entertaining for the gallery below.
