THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN GRAND JUNCTION HAS ISSUED A
WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW...WHICH IS IN
EFFECT FROM 6 AM FRIDAY TO 6 AM MST SATURDAY.

    * SNOW ACCUMULATIONS: 5 TO 10 INCHES BY SATURDAY MORNING WITH
LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS FAVORING NORTH-FACING SLOPES.

    * NORTH WINDS OF 10 TO 15 MPH WITH GUSTS AS HIGH AS 35 MPH.

    * AREAS OF BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW OVER HIGH EXPOSED TERRAIN.
We'll see. I'd have more confidence in this snow if the flow was truly from the NW, rather than a lobe of energy wrapping around the big storm in the midwest. Forecasting these lobes of energy and precip wrapping back into Colorado can be tricky. If all comes together, there could easily be 6" of fluff by midday Sat, but I'd rather shoot low and be surprised.

GREAT TO SEE THE REPORTS from out on the hill. 1-2 feet in IP and some nice turns on the Beav. Without these reports, it's hard to cut through the bull and actually know where the snow fell and how it's skiing. Thanks all!

We got 5-10 snowflakes in Aspen.

Vail opened chairs 5 and 17 so sun up and sun down bowls are open. Was there when they dropped some ropes and the snow was very nice. 1ft + in windloaded areas. Got several runs of the fresh and then just slayer groomers after the soft stuff was chopped out. Hopefully they continue to open terrain to carry us thru to the next major snowfall

really surprised those two opened. We saw them drop the ropes but figured it would be a HEAVY snow junk show so we avoided that mess.

Next snow chance is Wed/Thurs but that system looks very far south so next to nothing for our area. NW flow sets up behind that system which could provide for light orographic snow in that flow. Nothing big looming that I can see.

    vail was not the suck

was at sundown when they dropped the ropes. had a nice run down skiers left side of the ravine...nice a light and not windblown, shitty coverage, but overall nice to ski some knee deep pow and deep grass for a few minutes. I'd imagine if we hit it again it would have resulted in a number of core shots.

The rest of vail was soft and fun. The mountain needs about 2' more (in a two week period) to be good.

That's what happens when you ski at keystone.

Skied Sunlight today. Awesome hill...yes it's small-ish, but has some fun terrain and good snow. Plus a great low-key atmosphere. At least I have no fear of running into Charlie Sheen's temper like I would in Aspen...http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/34592771...t-celebrities/

You are blaming the ski resort for hitting a rock. Sure it sucks but what do you expect when there is only a 25 inch base. Most of Colorado has very little snow which means rocks(You know they are called the rockies). Personally im happy that my resort is willing to open terrain when is still is very rocky(better then having nothing open). Certainly stay away from Telluride, Crested Butte, big sky and im sure many other resorts because you will be disappointed that the rocks are not well marked even when there is a bunch of snow.

On a more serious note it sound to me that the first storm will go south of Telluride and later in the week the action will be north. Lets hope early Jan will produce some monster storms

i thought the bowls were nice & soft, i guess i went around all the rocks & trees by turning tho...

the new "suggested closure" areas (just signs, no ropes) seems to make everyone more comfortable with poaching - & headwall was good. goin up now

So you're whining like a lil bitch because you can't think for yourself?

Maybe you're just an idiot who deserved his face smashed into the ground.

Do you always ski your XXL's on blue squares at Gapestone? You're pretty 'core...

It's weird that there are like rocks and stumps barely covered with the base there......

Try using some common sense, it's a ski mountain, not a controlled environment.
You may want to not charge in thin conditions, toolbag.

Also I am not complaining that there are thin spots, its that its in a spot you cannot see and it isn't marked. You think I have no common sense but the ski patrol is without blame? every area I have ever worked at has had a patrol that marks unseen hazards like that. 1 piece of bamboo is not a big fucking deal.
If you can't ski thin conditions, I hope you stay the fuck out of the backcountry....

You remind me of the type of beater who sues ski areas because you can't think for yourself (and deserve your face smashed on the ground)

    XXL's for $400???? hahahhhaahahaaha!!!!!!
Maybe you can sell them for like $150 now.

If the rock was so big like you say, why even mark it?

What kind of a retard on XXL's beaters into a huge rock on the frontside of Keystone while ripping down a blue square in thin conditions?

You're now saying the rock was on a groomer? hahahahahah
