This is a really odd setup for an El Nino pattern. Omega type block over the Great Basin and the NW getting POUNDED! Whistler picked up 165" in the last month. This is pretty much the opposite of what we should be seeing.

^^^ I've said that same thing to some friends lately. Not sure if that will continue to be the winter pattern or if it will shift into a typical El Nino pattern at some point. Omega block can suck my ass!

Way to darken a Friday morning, metioning something as evil, awful, and loathsome as an Omega block. I'll just go cry over my coffee. I have bun in the oven set to be ready in late January. You can be assured it will snow then (not now while I have time to ski)

All indications from the cpc indicate that it will change coming into December.

I'm actually pretty stoked, it is shaping up to be a winter like the last two. The snow will come. Plus sunny and 40 degrees is pretty freaking money. Nice to sit on a deck and drink a beer after some skiing. Colorado rulez

Is this really anything new for the CO high country?!?! Sounds like the start to every season...

Beautiful day today up in the mountains. Life is good!
Skiing, whether you're in Wisconsin or the Alps, is a dumbass hick country sport that takes place in the middle of winter on a mountain at the end of a dirt road.

We would all like for it to be dumping every night with bluebird days. That being said, yesterday was so $$$$. Great temps, beautiful views, snow was meh but just a great day to be in the mountains.

Prices? I assume given the hand-wringing that you are letting it all go at fire-sale / federal indictment prices.

    Dibs on skis and sled.

I'll pay you to take the skis and sleds. It never snows, we're fucking doomed, season is pretty much over, and I'm pretty sure it's not going to snow again this year. Fukked. OMFG.

well I think a half an inch fell in Eagle Vail, maybe an inch. Doesn't look very promising out there for snow, though I see the NWS forecast:

Today: Snow. High near 29. West northwest wind between 10 and 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.

Need to go take a better look outside, but so far it doesn't look like it's even snowing up high right now. Not sure if we'll get that 3-5". Sure would make for nicer groomers though...

Jeez, almost spit my coffee everywhere when I saw the email from Vail claiming 4 inches (not sure what to think, hike to PHQ?). Will have to go investigate see if there's at least a couple runs before Born Free is scraped back to ice

Thanks PT, let us know about the hike and coverage. If you go to phq peak over into the back. Web cams make things look grim. Finger on the button for a plane ticket for first session of the season. Let it snow let it snow let it snow!

I just bought some new equipment so it pretty much won't snow now for a while.

Edit to add: the CPC's December precip discussion was not optimistic either.

But again, even if this year is "slightly" below average, we still have like 250 inches of snow to fall.

    ^^^what is CPC again?

Searched but no luck... I'm looking for historical snowfall data for Colorado. Anyone that can provide links would be a nice person.

CPC = Climate Prediction Center. NOAA's long term forecasters based out of MD (that is Maryland)

Work ruined my plans for getting out today. It did look like it snowed lightly most of the day at Vail. On and off in Avon/Eagle Vail and a little more up at Beav...

Maybe someone who was up at Vail today can share thoughts on conditions.
