"There is no NL East Champion because my team played like shit down the stretch."
Jesus.
For the record, even though I think it was clear: I compared you to skikola because your posts today are super lame. Super hardcore horridly lame.
Go reread them.
Okay, did you reread them?
So now, tell me - who is miserable?
I'm nothing but positivity. Culture of winning, baby!
There is no teams in the NL east that deserves to be called "Champion" for the same reason there's no team in the NL Central.
Let's put it this way: Colorado. Arizona. San Diego. One of these three teams won't be in the playoffs - but the Cubs will. That's the way it is. Even though the Cubs are the NL Central Champs, they're not the Champs. And neither are the phillies. The phillies were in the right place at the right time, good for them. Don't piss on the mets because the mets had more to do with phily being where they are than philly did.
Okay, my last post (since deleted) was a bit much - but fuckin cry me a river, pal. Hey, news flash! The Mets Suck!

Also, dude - the Phillies won 14 of their last 17, or something like that. Thats fucking solid play. Note: This is exactly what I would have been saying if the Yanks had passed the Sox. A team wins at that kind of clip, you just gotta tip your cap. Not piss and moan like a goober. Get on the fucking trolley.
Steve, I feel your pain. No, actually, I don't, because as an Orioles fan I don't even imagine any more that my team will get into the playoffs, much less win their division.
But the Phillies won 89 games. That level of mediocrity (and, as the St. Louis Cardinals will testify, it ain't all that bad) puts them right there with every other NL playoff team (as well as the Mets). Not only that, they started off 4-11, which puts them at 85-62 for the rest of the year, not to mention their strong finish. If they're not a playoff team, then who in the NL is?
Heh, good point. I guess the WS this year is going to the AL.
By the way, now that you mention it, I remember looking at the standings around the All Star Break and noticing that the only NL team with a record to match the leading AL teams, especially boston, was the Mets. I remember being worried about AL teams come the world series because the Mets were so dominant at the time, but the schedule was obviously easier for an NL team..

They should be happy that the mets lost. But they shouldn't piss on the mets, either. They came in ahead of the braves, I definitely give them credit for that - and as far as I'm concerned, the Mets are the worst team in the NL east. But the Mets also dominated the NL east for a big portion of the season. So it's one giant clusterfuck. Be happy, don't piss on the mets, and focus on arizona, or san diego, or colorado, or whoever they end up playing.
yeah, i know.
You should watch your team blow a 7-game lead to last place teams sometime.
probably as bad as detroit last year losing to st. louis.
or the yankees losing to boston a few years back now.
i'm too young to remember the 73 mets. i remember the 87 mets. that sucked, too.
I don't know about the lightning part, but I heard an interview with Cal some time not long ago (within the last year or so) in which, as I recall, the stuff he was saying suggested that he might be interested in that. (Or maybe he's said so right out. California newspapers don't do such a good job of keeping me abreast of Orioles news.) No matter what, they're not going anywhere good until Angelos is gone.
BTW, I went to high school in Bel Air one year behind Cal in Aberdeen. We're almost like best friends, except for the part about ever meeting in person.

hey stump, you can blow me.
when you said this during the discussion about the mets collapse, "the Biggest meltdown in baseball history is, and always will be, the Yankees losing to the Sox in the 2004 ALCS. Get your shit together, Tammy Faye," It actually made me chuckle. You were SO quick to jump on the yankees at any chance that you really take a LOT of credit away from the red sox here. One team got hot in a postseason series and another team went cold. Happens all the time, just never before to that extent. The mets lost a 7 game lead over 17 games.....playing shitty teams......when the fuck does that EVER happen?
Steve. We fucking get it. You have posted 14 times in the last 3 hours about your misery. Get a life.
