my comment was directed at ice space man,
who thinks he can strike fear in the hearts of weary souls through this message board.
and woe is me for being FUCKING PUMPED about the postseason and my team.

I find this all truly amusing!
hahahaha.......
getting back to reality,
i'm glad the cubs are in,
still pulling for the mets to somehow not
execute an all-time collapse.....
i don't really care about a lot of teams, but i like to follow certain situations, and I have certain tendencies. For instance, the cubs were ALWAYS on tv during the day when i was growing up, so i tend to like them in the national league. i also like to see new york teams do well, generally.
it's called being a baseball fan.
and my stomach is turning watching the mets highlights, it's really ridiculous.

All of you suck. There's insufficient discussion in this thread about the 1969-71 Orioles and that's wrong.
Stop living in the present, man.
my favorite bumper sticker from the 80's:
fuck LA
I am trying to figure out this National League Clusterfuck..
If only one of the mets or phillies win and the other lose, then the winner gets the playoff spot and the loser takes the rest of the season off. It won't affect the wildcard.
If both the mets and phillies lose, then they play each other to see who wins the NL east and it also doesn't affect the wildcard.
If the mets, phillies or both lose, then all of this is the case:
* If Arizona and San Diego both win, then Arizona gets the NL west and San Diego gets the wildcard.
* If San Diego loses and colorado wins, then arizona gets the NL west regardless of whether they win or lose tomorrow, and SD and Colorado play each other for the wildcard.
* If Arizona loses and San Diego wins, then they play each other. The winner gets the NL west, and Loser gets the wildcard. Colorado is out.
with me so far? ok.. what if both the mets and phillies win?
First off, the Mets and phillies play each other. Winner gets the NL East.
What about the loser?
* If the padres win, then they already have either the wildcard or the NL west (depending on conditions above), and the loser of NYM/Phil goes home, like colorado.
* If the padres and colorado both lose, then the NYM/Phil loser plays the padres for the wildcard.
* If the padres lose and colorado wins, then we have a total clusterfuck. Three teams: SD, Color, and either Philly or NYM are eligible for the wildcard, and I have no idea how that's going to get resolved.
wow.

What a race! Rox v. Peavy tomorrow night at Coors Field. Peavy is lights out, but the way the Rockies are hitting the ball, I feel pretty good about their chances (anti-jinx!)
Way to go Rockies!
What a great game on a Sunday afternoon. Much better then sitting at home and watching the Broncos get crushed in Indy- Again.
Rock's pics to follow......
being a mets fan..
your life becomes one of disappointment, depression, and despair.
To make matters worse, today I was in Philadelphia. Hear a 4-year old girl say "I hate the mets."
That 4-year old girl should fucking love the mets.
Lets be crystal clear - it's the mets' meltdown, and not philadelphia domination, that cause that 4-year-old girl to have a playoff team. The phillies played well, but not like champions: the reason they're in the playoffs is because, and only because, the mets melted down. WIthout a mets meltdown, the phillies are not a playoff team. So get a bit of humility. As far as I'm concerned, there is no NL east champion this year. All the teams played below potential. And I'd be surprised if Philly makes it to the NLCS.
Anyway, today sucked.
fuck.

ps. good luck. you're going to need it.
