    Yet another Ebay scam Q

So I just posted a high end video camera up on Ebay for a friend of mine. The camera sold within a couple of hours for $3000. So this morning I check my email and the guy (Martin Luis) who won it sends me an email saying that he lives in the US but is leading a church in London and bought this for his grandson who is studying in Nigeria (yeah right). He asked for the total amount to ship it to Nigeria and gave me this guys address in Nigeria. He says he'll be sending the money via Paypal.

On top of that, the guys feedback history is listed as private and also says that he is no longer a registered Ebay user (then how the fuck can he buy an item if he is not registered?)

So then I get an email from Ebay saying this guy is a suspicious bidder, they have canceled previous bids from him, that they can't confirm his contact info, and/or he has failed to complete recent transactions. It says I should consider the transaction void, etc.

So obviously I'm sure as hell not sending this dude shit, but what course of action should I take? Do I need to call Ebay in order to get the camera re-listed without getting charged? Do I need to report this asshole? This is really the first scam I've run into on Ebay (I've been lucky I guess).

That happened to me once. Relist it and file a paypal claim once the 30 days are up to get your seller fees back. Fucking asshat scammers

The same asshat bid and won a laptop I was selling. Ebay refunded listing fees etc and cancelled the transaction.

Run. Far. Far. Away from this guy.

So give him a number what the total would be to ship to Nigeria. If the money shows up in your Paypal account transfer it immediately to a bank account, then ship. If no money then contact eBay and ask them to re-list the camera for free.

Out of curiosity - what kind of "high end" camera are we talking about? If it's NTSC then it can't be used in most African countries, since they're PAL or SECAM.

Contacted Ebay, they've already issued a Final Value Fee credit since he is no longer a registered user. I emailed him and told him to go fuck himself.

The camera is a Panasonic DVX100B, so yeah it is NTSC. Already re-listed it. Thanks for the help fellas.

I agree. This would be worth the postage to see the look on the scammers face as he brags to his friend that its probably the camera and it ends up being shit.

That doesn't really work. If he is a scamer you can still get a charge back from it whenever the real owner of that account finds out about it and complains to his CC company or bank or whoever.
