i thought squaw was fun. i'm sure the snow is just as wet up here in north lake, and we only had siberia and shirly going. still it skis fast before it gets cut up, then things get a bit more cowboy.

should i come down for a day with teh boys at the wood? you're a doctor, i trust your opinion.

A friend told me he kicked off a decent size wet slide at Sugar Bowl yesterday. Anyone else experiencing or seeing anything similar?

God that was some heavy ass snow @ KW! It was cool finally meeting some of you guys - next time I won't do squats/etc before going skiing. Then maybe I'll keep up - maybe.

Heavy but exactly what we need. Stuff is filling in fast. Bring super-fats and let them rip by taking 2-3 turns each run. Can't say I didn't have fun.

Squaw upper mountain was good stuff today. We got their at 8:30 and it's pouring rain at the base. We donned garbage bags and about 2/3rd way up the Funitel it was snowing pretty heavily.

Solitude and it's cliffs were money until the lift broke about 11am or so.

Shirley was OK and traversing skier's left to Granite was decent. Trees and rock tops were a plus to help visibility.

Siberia sucked because by the time I hit it, the fog was so dense I could barely see one turn in front of me

No shit! Especially this year. (not to mention, when I ski like shit I like to try and blame the snow) No winky face. Plus, I headplanted into a tree well and gotta a little scare, which didn't help my mood. I will say that in 6 years at kirkwood this was the heaviest snow I have skied. The temperature was supposed to fall. When we got there it was 32 when we left 4 hours later 36. So, the snow actually got worse as the day went on.

wherever the wind had hit the snow, it was fast and buttery. In the trees it was brutal.

I think, if the snow level falls to 6,500 feet, and we get 10+ inches, it will be really good and the glass will then be half full.

And if that happens, the next two days could be really really fun. All the small rocks are getting covered but the terrain is still gnarly, with plenty of big rocks and some cool lines forming. Maybe they will even open up the cornice ridge or the wall and that will be a blast.

I'm trying. I am just a bit manic-depressive with the skiing this year. One day I feel like I can't miss a turn, the next, I want to quit after 1-2 runs.

hmmmm, maybe i should write out a script for some Lithium......ohhhhh, or even better maybe some Electroconvulsive therapy.

Alpine was good this morning, snowing at the base all morning. Snow level looked be around the parking lots to a couple hundred feet below Alpine’s base. The snow up top was smooth and fast until the top of roundhouse.

The snow was wet. The gortex was tested, some pieces didn’t pass.

Lift up date: Looks like Scott Chair is broken. There were a bunch of chairs laying on the ground next to the base of the lift.. Alpine Bowl Chair did not run today.

What time did you guys bail? Our big crew got fragmented all of a sudden.

By 230 my gloves, pants and jacket were wetter than Jenna Jamesons panties. Early hypothermia set in and then we bailed.

If anyone wants to hit up naked fish tonight hit me up yo

What's up with chairlifts breaking down lately? Chair 5 at the Wood, which offloads the jongs from the Corny Express, has been down for 3 days.. don't know why.

At Red Mountain, the Paradise chair (fixed grip triple) shredded its gearbox (the vbox to be precise) and is down for a week plus. Ugh.

I'm heading up to Kirkwood tomorrow, Sunday and or Monday. How were the road conditions? Was the snow sticking to the road or was it just Jenna wet? Anyone go through the spur I'd guess it would be snow tires and chains.

saw that the spur was closed when WSD and I left, but the Pass was still pretty easy going. mostly wet, a little snow at the top.

i will be there tomorrow. I am OPTIMISTIC that the dropping temp and continued precip will make for awesome conditions.

i'm comming to kirkwood tomarrow. i'm sure squaw will be good, if granite opens. but it didnt spin at all today. if get headwall going it would be very good i think. and if they get 10 inches at the base of kt, kt will probly be good.

but i wanted to ski with daddyfagknob the HARDRIDER! and i also wanted to give you a high five. plus maybe we could take some neat pictures. you know... just the two of us.

also if you go to squaw on a day that i cant give you a tour i'll be pissed.

word on the Scott Chair is that the cable needed to be replaced. 35+ guys working on it.

talk about getting chilled to the bone... i was out there till 3pm and definitely cold and wet. but it was fun... now if this rain at my house turns to snow, then i'll know tomorrow will definitely be $$$$.

Mt Rose today was great. Snowing over the whole mountain, top to bottom. Poor visibility, blowing wind/snow (got some windburn), and generally heavy snow meant people beatering in all over the place and bitching about it... leaving a nicely empty mountain.

They opened the East bowl today. Officially only the Bonanza run was added. But for those who know Rose, you can enter on Bonanza, and traverse anywhere. I had fresh tracks for 3 hours, nonstop laps on the highspeed lift, ski right up to the lift, never a line.

I was up with Mrs. C., and eventually found some non-mags we were supposed to meet up there. Also saw Corky, Mrs. Corky, and GapersGoHome. By the time I met up with GGH my legs were dead and cramping. 4 hrs straight of nonstop lapping the highspeed chair... I have no idea how anyone does a full 9-4 day at Rose without taking a serious rest stop, unless you just stick to groomers, or if the lift lines are bad.

Incidentally, Powder Plusses are really fun, and nearly indestructible. I put some large gouges in the bases, some of which look like puncture wounds, but none went to the core. I do have some ptex work to do after tomorrow though.
