    180 Explosiv = softer than 190 Explosiv.

    183 m103 = a tad bit stiffer than a 190 Explosiv.

    183 m103 vs 193 m103 = ? dunno, never skied on or even hand-flexed a 193 m103.

I'm quite sure the 183 and 193 are built to have the same flex, but the 193 skis much bigger and burlier. The tips of these soften up considerably over time as well...at least in my experience.

I've skied 190 CMH's and 190 newish regular exploders and the CMH was definitely softer. I guess the CMH's just had a lot more days on them. A 190 Exploder (even CMH) should be noticeably stiffer than a Watea IMVHO

BTW the 'toons need to be removed from the "not reccomended list" because they f'in rock....that is all. And yes, I have skiied the spat and own the praxis powder. I agree that they have a very thin base but they have held up well thus far otherwise (fingers crossed). I have skied them in almost every condition this year and once you figure out that you have to ski them like a traditional ski, and not just pivot, they rip...period.

yeah i'm not bagging on how the pontoons SKI, i am bagging on how they are made/constructed. of the poeple I know on them, 2/3rds have had to get them warrentied in less than 10 days due to delaming.

I can honestly say that I am surprised that after 12 days they are holding up fine....other than one core shot. Granted they are only being pulled out on the appropriate days and all, but at the end of every day I am thinking that they will be delamed at the tip....and some day probabally will.

Verb - it's funny that I also own the 'nooks, however I have skiied them rarely this year. Guess it depends how and where you are spending your day...not to mention that mother has been rather nice to us:-)

    ATTENTION MARSHALOLSON:

Nothing to do with Pontoons, but IMO this pdf should be included in the first page of this sticky:

    still happy with my pontoons

starting to get a bit more tip clack, but I think that's just snow conditions the last time I rode them - COLD and light, instead of usual heavy and milky.

tips still looking alright...I'd say I have 8 or 9 days on them.

did a 2"x1" core shot, all the way down to the wood. It was a hell of a hit though, and hurt like hell (almost ended my season).

keep in mind hellbent is the standard sidecut shape, not a taper. If it was a taper, w/ sidewall and stiffer flex, it'd be a no-brainer.

I've searched every set of terms I can think of, but I haven't found my answer. Where do you guys think an Elan M777 fits into the relative flex scale? Especially compared to, say, a Stiff BRO?

I'd add another vote for ARGs. I've never skied their competition (Lotus/Praxxis/Pontoon/Spats) so I can't compare, but they rock. And they may be better made then the Pontoons. The sticker says Austria, so probably Atomic?

    I'd say Pale, not atomic...

After all, Pale is selling numerous other Armada skis under tehir own name... Eg. 191 Pale TT X 66 seems to have the same specs as Ant and 188 TT X 66 same as JP vs. Julian...

I've got both the explosivs buddhas in a 190 and and the Stockli Asteroids in a 186. By feel, the Stocklis are stiffer. Are there measures to corroborate or refute this? The Stocklis are definAtely longer.

hmmm. the 201 dom.perrets are not as stiff feeling by hand in the shop. not ski'd them though. 190 explosivs are def. more like 186ish cm though, for sure.

alot of it is cross comparison, like the 201's were compared to my 260+ 200 FFL's. and explosiv's were compared to 190 250# FFL's and 240# FFF's and 260# FAT's.

I've read claims that the old Asteroids (circa 2001) were the stiffest of the Stockli bunch and that the newer models have become increasingly softer. But I haven't flexed any of the new ones. I did stash away an extra pair of the 186 Asteroids (@ $320 from T-P, I couldn't resist) and am just starting to ski on them. Still my favorite plank.

Where would ARV's fit in on the flex list? I skied a pair here in Yurp but it was the first time I've been on alpines in a while. Flex seemed comparable to my PE's, although a bigger overall ski.

Asteroids are my favorite ski ever....... yes they are stiffer than all other stockli's (DP, SS ect.)Not quite Squad stiff but damn close. I am pretty sure they have less side cut than current stockli's as well. I Haven't seen a pair of them in a long time............. Before the Asteroids there was the DP Pro Cira 1999/2000??? super stiff as well I think 83ish waist grey green and black graphics ...... if anyone has any retired stockli's I would Pay $$$$ for them

Denver Wholesale's ebay store had a new pair of those 99/00 DP's until recently. I think they're only 73 in the waist though....

There's an embarassing pic of my ski stash somewhere that includes both 186 and 201 Asteroids, but I can't find it.

Anyway, yeah, great skis, love the straight sidecut.

    FWIW -
190 wizards that I skied (and absolutely fucking hated) seemed quite a bit stiffer than 201 roids although it's entirely possible the EXs were a bum pair. The prof had much more time on both though and would be able to give a definite answer.

the one run I took on the roids will forever be burned into my mind for the pure blasting-across-Nebraska-WFO-in-a-caddy feeling of skiing cut up cruddy junky snow.
