Props to my old HS Team!

Cardinal Newman, the team I used to play for along time ago has been selected to represent Northern California in the first ever state football championships for division 3.

    http://www1.pressdemocrat.com/apps/p...04/1033/NEWS01

    Unfortunately:

"Newman is not expected to win the game. Oaks Christian is ranked No. 2 in the state, behind De La Salle, and is rated the fifth-best team in the nation. Twelve of its players are headed to Division I college football programs. Its quarterback, Jimmy Clausen, is expected to attend the University of Notre Dame."

Still, major props to them for going 13-1 and making it all the way. Good luck and go Cardinals! (Back in 91, we made it to the playoffs only to get destroyed by De La Salle when they were the best team in the nation. They had Amani Toomer and would just give the ball to him and let him run circles around us. Good times.)

But USC-bound Marc Tyler suffered a broken leg during the playoffs and you'll not have to face him.

If we're doing this kind of thing, big ups to the Choate Rosemary Hall men's hockey team, who knocked off rival Deerfield on Saturday in the first of this season's two meetings. We'll fuck those losers up next time, too.

One more... Corning East, my alma mater, won the New York Class A football championship this year, going undefeated. It was the school's first state championship since my HS baseball team won it back in 1995.

My HS has three current players in the NHL (none of them are studs but that's still not bad).

    Who, Ice?

Justin King at Penn State, Morty Ivy at WVU, several freshman at Pitt are all from my high school.

Some running back from my school was on the Dolphins practice squad maybe seven years ago.

RJ Umberger of the Flyers is from Plum, one of my schools big rivals, and the next town over, about five minutes from my house.

The football team was ranked number one in the nation numerous times in the 70's and 80's and was ranked as high as number 5 I believe just two seasons ago.

The HS football team I coached this year won City's & Provincials, at least one of them is probably heading to the states to play QB.

One guy who used to go there (I played against him back in 1999) is now punting for the Packers, Jon Ryan. I always laugh because his arms are about 8 times the size of mine but he's only a punter. The size & speed of some NFL players is mindblowing to me sometimes.
Yep, seen this before. Crazy liquor & cheeseburger party got out of control.

Moeller High, Cincinnati, I think. They had the #1 ranked football team several times during the late 70s and into the 80s. They played a few of the top SoCal teams during that time, Servite, Banning, and/or Edison.

Looks like McCollem got sent back to the AHL now that I check. He was on the team for a while, but hell he's young, first year out of HS.

I played against Mara a couple of times growing up and then in HS- it was very irritating how good he was.

And warthog- how do you know the Howells? Our families summer together every year.

I went to Westminster with their son, and their daughter was down the road at Miss Porters. Hamptons or the Vineyard? Oh wait, the Vineyard is so 1980. It is all about the ACK these days.

Nope. Gateway High School in Monroeville, PA. I don't know that they ever finished the season ranked number one, but they were there at some point during the season several times, and they beat or tied teams ranked there a few times as well, including what the Pittsburgh PG called the best WPIAL footaball game ever when they tied top-ranked Upper Saint Claire (USC, heh) 7-7.

Saw PLENTY of Ian Moran in his days with the Pens. I feel sorry for your HS team.

And if McCollem is only 18-19, he must be pretty damn good to even get a sniff at the big time.
