Oh, and take your time on Friday. I suggest leaving late in the day. The weather should be beautiful, and of course there won't be a rush this week from the Bay Area since we don't have snow.
I have to stay home and watch the kids on Saturday.

I'm sure Saturday won't be any fun at hill.

jst got into Truckee and its windy and cool, but no snow as of yet. i even have a freshly washed Subaru sitting in the driveway, so no way it will snowthis weekend. i am gonna make my way to Alpine tomorrow (I won't be pulling my usual dawn patrol to get first chair on Summit, errr., Roundhouse I guess...) to ski some icy death strips just to feel the sensation of sliding on snow again... anyone gonna be at Alpine tomorrow?

The models want to bring gonzo's big fucker ashore by the end of next week. But the ingredients may be in place to split the system sending most of the energy north.

Keep your fingers crossed and stay tuned.

You will have freshies when you arrive with refills on wednesday and thursday, but it is looking like the bigger, colder system is holding off until next weekend.

incidentally, when I will be up at the Eiseman hut. Anti-jinx.

I was thinking about Sun. But, I think I'll take advantage of self-employment and delay it a day. Drive up Sun night after the storm and ski Mon. OHC and I need to discuss some work stuff. That can be done on a chairlift.

i bailed on skiing today, as it waqs drizzling rain off and on most of the day. after this big ridge, the first storm is usually a dud, just cleans out that mofo so that its buddies followig fast behind can get in here and dump their goodness. two more shots coming, these colder and wetter. i will try again for Alpine tomorrow if anyone wants to meet up.

Rontele, I don't want to jinx anything so i wasn't going to respond to your post about next w.e.'s system (or the big kahuna around the ~ 23rd that's brewing out there) - i am sure it will suck and be a dud like all these

    Dear Ullr,

Please tell the other big fucker in the pacific that is starting to move northward to turn back to the east. The PNW has had enough. Utah and Tahoe need more.

    Thank you

I think both will gets theirs towards the end of the week and in the interim, Utah should be brushed with systems throughout the course of the week.

    time to resurrect this thread.

HEAVY PRECIPITATION IS A GIVEN WITH THIS SCENARIO FOR THE SIERRA AND THIS 3 DAY PERIOD COULD RESULT IN SNOW AMOUNTS THAT RIVAL SOME OF THE HEAVIER MULTI-DAY STORMS IN THE PAST 50 YEARS. SNOW LEVELS WILL FLUCTUATE AS THE SHORTWAVES MOVE ONTO THE WEST COAST. CURRENT THINKING IS THAT AS SNOW BEGINS THURSDAY NIGHT SNOW LEVELS COULD BE AS HIGH AS 7K BUT MORE LIKELY WILL BE AROUND 6K. THIS WOULD BRING SNOW TO THE TAHOE BASIN AND PROBABLY DOWN TO LAKE LEVEL. ON FRIDAY SPILLOVER SNOW ON SOME WESTERN VALLEY FLOORS IS LIKELY AS SNOW LEVELS DROP TO 5000 FEET AND POSSIBLY LOWER. SNOW LEVELS MAY RISE AGAIN ON SUNDAY AHEAD OF THE STRONG COLD FRONT THAT PUSHES THROUGH LATER SUNDAY OR SUNDAY NIGHT. SUNDAY LOOKS LIKE ANOTHER POSSIBILITY FOR SPILLOVER RAIN CHANGING TO SNOW IN THE VALLEYS. IN SUMMARY...WHILE THE SIERRA COULD SEE 5 TO 10 FEET OF SNOW OR MORE THROUGH THIS EVENT...THERE IS ALSO THE POSSIBILITY FOR 2 TO 3 FEET AT LAKE LEVEL.
