AT Binding group buy

I can relate to the local shops and appreciate their support. I think that it is important for us to consider the ramifications of hooking up the outsiders that may have ended up going to local shops. What do you guys think?

My disclaimer...I don't think I have any authority on any of these thoughts...but, you asked for some feedback...and I think it would be good to get some feedback from at least a few. I think there is some validity to your thought above...and earlier in the thread, Hurricane spoke to that issue. Another aspect is the community aspect (and I'm not implying I'm the consummate community-contributor here)...we've seen this come up in Gear Swap before. The lurker "comes out" to snipe a good deal, so I know some sellers have said they won't sell to the total newb...granted, that's a little different situation...but if there is some "number" in this group buy where the cost effiency changes, maybe it is a valid consideration from that point. Marshal's sticky states something about not just jumping into gear swap, but something to the effect of being apart of the community for awhile, then get involved in gear swap...and granted, I think he meant that more for those looking to unload their gear. In my own opinion, it does seem a bit lame for someone to come out of the woodwork just to get in on this...and then most likely, we'll never hear from them again (why would we, if we didn't hear from them before the group buy?) Those are some thoughts...again, I don't think I'm the authority on any of this...

I just go back and read the thread from where I left off Tuesday. I see your point about newbies and the fact that I lurked for over a year before joining, and then getting in on the group buy something like a week after joining doesn't help my cause. So, Greguar, if you'd prefer, I will back out of the Colorado buy lest your guilt / disdain for newbie buys cannibalizing local shops is accentuated by my involvement. Incidentally, I've bought plenty at retail locally, plenty online, and a few good "steals" off local boards. But I digress. I'll walk away from this and let the regulars take the deal. I can fend for myself, thanks. I just thought maybe the comraderie on the site, and the passion for the sport would be unversal. Guess it's not.

I was playing in pow pow all weekend so I slacked on the call to get pricing. I am gonna try and get the info squared away today.

I'm curious: Has anyone broached something like this at local shops/distributors? I don't know what the prices would be, but I imagine we could get a large enough order that would certainly match or exceed the numbers that most shops sell. BCA is based out of Boulder, it would probably be easy to contact them. I don't know where BD is based out of, SLC maybe? It might be less hassle that way. Or not, but just curious if anyone has tried this option.

As for the jong question: I came on looking to buy a pair of explosivs. I never bought them, so I didn't make a post, until we got some sick early snow in CO last year and I had to chime in. I had also heard how harsh the board was to new guys who didn't know shit, so I tried to not talk out of my ass, and didn't want to make a first post unless it was worthwhile. If I had known you guys had become such pussies about that I'd be saying the same stupid shit I do now.
