I love this claim and I'm seeing it repeated more and more. Apparently, the present talk radio line is that the CIA, the Defense Department, and the rest of our intelligence services are filled with....

Haig and others would have us believe that the Central Intelligence Agency has been operating, essentially, as an arm of the Democratic Party for the last six years, except maybe during the brief period in which the CIA inflated the WMD estimates, and even that can perhaps be written off as originating from the Lieberman faction. That the CIA, banned from some of the more liberal college campuses in America, recruits right of center candidates by both structure and inclination can conveniently be ignored. Reality cannot run counter to the claims of the Republican Party, whether that reality is reported by the CIA or by CNN. Any evidence of divergence is due solely to bias, ill will, and anti-Americanism.

That is it! I am gonna quote, and get you all with my quotes:

But the fact that some geniuses were laughed at does not imply that all who are laughed at are geniuses. They laughed at Columbus, they laughed at Fulton, they laughed at the Wright brothers. But they also laughed at Bozo the Clown.
    -Carl Sagan

In religion and politics people's beliefs and convictions are in almost every case gotten at second-hand, and without examination, from authorities who have not themselves examined the questions at issue but have taken them at second-hand from other non-examiners, whose opinions about them were not worth a brass farthing.
    -Mark Twain

A human being is a part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.

Yeah, I am sure it is. That is unfortunate by-product of the radical culture we are dealing with. This is the new cold war. It won't be fought with large numbers of troops and it won't be won overnight. It's going to be a long war.

    interesting.
You ever watch Bush 'get down to business'?

At least he doesn't even know he is lying...that is the curse of intellect.

'Lying' will be revealed by history....and I highly doubt Bush will come out smelling like roses in the long run.
but you KNOW that....everyone with an active brain sees this pretty clearly.

Did ye nae get the memo, laddie?

... the war in Iraq has become a "cause celebre" for Islamic extremists ...

... the nation's most veteran analysts conclude that despite serious damage to the leadership of al-Qaida, the threat from Islamic extremists has spread both in numbers and in geographic reach.

"If this trend continues, threats to U.S. interests at home and abroad will become more diverse, leading to increasing attacks worldwide,"
    ...
Bush said critics who believe the Iraq war has worsened terrorism are naïve and mistaken. (link)

    Wink

Again ... if a "hit" on OBL had succeeded, would 9/11 still have happened?

If we get OBL now, will we have succeeded in the "war on terror?"

Is it possible to catch all terrorists? If so, how? If not, why?

Wow, this IS enlightening, surely no one can deny cold hard facts like this!

Perhaps you will share the source of your knowledge of the awareness and effectiveness of the CIA. I'm sure it is a source they aren't aware of, seeing as they really don't pay attention to much of anything, and since your genious is something that those knuckleheads couldn't comprehend anyway. Do tell.

so that "central tenet" is true even though the supporting facts can be shown to be false. reminds me of the liberals' defense of Michael Moore and F911. such integrity.

when you lead off a discussion like this, you cheaper your own argument. you use a smarmy ad hominem attack to smear your opponent, instead of presenting any facts. statements like yours just make you seem like a self-important buffoon. you did the same thing in the global warming discussion.

Ummm....I have found no original thought expressed by you in this thread, only a link to a partisan blog and stubborn defense of it with no corroborating sources for the contentions of it. I don't think you unintelligent, but I fail to see why you hold so dearly the views you profess. Care to elaborate what fundamental beliefs power your rhetoric?

Ripzalot - The way i see it, there's only one poster in this thread who's making personal attacks and indulging in name calling. Everybody here can see you've lost the argument. Now you're just making yourself look silly.

WTF has Michael Moore and Fahrenheit 911 got to do with this discussion? You try to desperately change the subject when to attempt to divert attention away from the fact that your standpoint is weak. Do us a favor.

So you honestly believe that President George W. Bush will NOT be judged harsher by history? That Clinton is not perceived by a vast majority of breathing humans on this planet as a greater statesman than Dubya?

It was a blowjob... get over it.

A bit more to it than a blowjob.

Two different men facing different challenges. It is easy for us to criticize either for their actions or inactions after the fact, but you don't become president by being an idiot and making poor decisions. I have no doubt that both men took action on what they believed to be the truth and best information available.

Not to split hairs, but I don't believe Clinton was ever convicted of perjury. In fact he was actually aquitted by the US Senate of perjury charges.

Nevertheless he lied about a blowjob not state secrets or for outing a covert CIA officer for God's sake. How many people lied under oath about an affair.

Repeats and normally mispronounces phrases that have been printed onto flash cards and scattered around oval office - "evil doers" "Islamo fascists" "working hard" "terrorist regimes" "homeland" "stay the course" "fledgling democracy" "coalition forces" "good people" "new kind of conflict" "jihadists" "finest military force"

Name checks one of the evil puppeteers - Dick, Condi, Don, Alberto, Michael
