We found an amazing dog sitter who works at a local shelter and likes our dog. She was dog sitting over Memorial Day weekend and the guest room now has an indelible smell of patchouli, sandalwood, or some kind of crazy soap, can't quite decide. It's still strong after washing all the linens and running an air filter since we got back on Monday. She is in all other respects the perfect dog sitter, I have no idea what to do

You are probably going to have to get rid of the mattress.

I'd suggest smoking some weed in said room, that'll even it out.

You need to learn to like those smells. Because finding all the rest can sometimes be rarer than hens teeth.

There are far too many alcohol and prescription drug ads on TV

For me, this is in the wrong thread, should be in the "things that amuse you" thread

Being ghosted professionally. It is wild to me how some people just ignore the professional courtesy of letting you know that you didnt get the job/bid/project died, etc. Had an architect bring my group in as a sub for a job, had us revise the contract multiple times, did some upfront work and attended big team meetings upon his emailed NTP, and then he and his company straight ghosted me. No returned emails or calls, etc...but im still getting project update emails from the client so i know the project is moving forward. Just totally unprofessional. Its a small industry and people will hear about this....

Any food purchased at a shop/restaurant is pricey these days. I have given up on prices when going out and try and save elsewhere instead.
Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

Due to the oat growers strike, the cost of oatmeal is about to quadruple.

    Shit that annoys you

New tax person this year. Thought we were setup for a direct withdrawal but that wasn’t the case apparently, so missed the deadline. Annoying.

Luckily we did not owe that much, so the penalty+interest is only about $35.

Question for any tax gurus on here, since I've never had to pay a penalty... Trying to pay this online at the below link. There are 3 fields to fill in, Reason for Payment, Apply Payment To, and Tax Period for Payment. For the first field guessing it should be "civil penalty." Second field, "Other Amount Due" because I'm not making an advance payment or paying toward an installment agreement. Getting stumped on the 3rd field because it asks for a year and month...

    Shit that annoys you

People who stand on escalators in groups and block those who want to walk the escalator.

And a special place in hell for the people who do that AND turnaround and see that you’re standing behind them and still don’t move!

At least during rush hour, the law of “keep right” is mostly obeyed and enforced by my fellow NYers.

Edit: enforcement is usually just a vocal cue.
Because rich has nothing to do with money.
