Update: foot of wind, inch of snow. Still not snowing in LCC.

Haven’t been skiing a whole lot this year, today was probably one of my biggest days yet ([emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji640]]? Runs on the lifts) - super smooth and minimal traffic.

Ah, some news. Looks like they want to change BCC and LCC from National Forest land into state parks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ok79V1BjaYUIntentions sound good, but honestly, I do not trust Utah government. The only reason that Utah has such beautiful parks and preserved land is because of the federal government. They've made multiple attempts in the past to sell off land. I say keep it in the hands of the federal government and add some more fucking busses.

Ended up going solitude, didn’t want to wait in the car at LCC head.

Definitely more than seven inches on the ground, probably a foot at the bottom of the mountain. Few lines so far

Completely vibe based, but i feel like these AR storms are always later than forecast, and feel gutless. But they often finish strong. Still, its hard to believe were getting 36in when its partly sunny in town

Just wait until the northwest flow kicks in. That’s when the Cottonwoods will get their share.

Valentine's Day. Mark your calendars. The first day of the '24-'25 season that ALTA reports 100+" base. YeeHaw....I can finally ski something other than rock skis

I'm a dumbass, but doesn't the last days SW flow usually favor the Wasatch back more? I remember staying at a friend's place at PCMR over 10 yrs ago when we had 23in overnight in one of these which was to me shockingly more than LCC got.

Duffman, I have infested many a resort too but the combo of Ikonic areas and a holiday weekend and a huge snowstorm can be a biblical in it's drama.

This post will cue some ding-dong saying something like "But I just skied _____ and there was barely any traffic going up and no one there for hours even though everyone said it was going to be crowded (shrug)". Take note Ikoners - and be sure to infest this person's resort next year if you want that easy untracked!

What really needs to happen for PC to get slammed is for the flow to be just right so it retrogrades and comes from the SE.

Brighton supposedly does well in SW flow, deer valley can as well. Ive had a lot of shin deep 6" reported days at btown, seen a cloud park at the top if that mtn with nothing at the bottom too. Theres nothing as consistent and dramatic as the LCC advantage though.

Ah that's what it was. PCMR had an ungodly amount of snow compared to everyone else, like 10 in more. It was SE not SW . Like I said before, I'm a dumbass

The regional flow is still SW, but since low pressure systems circulate counterclockwise you can get local SE flow if things line up right.

Wasatch 24/25-Stoke, Conditions, and general debauchary

Thanks to all of y’all for staying out of LCC today! Great day! Like muted said, traffic was easy getting up (dropped my kid off at school around 8:45, was parked at 9:45, usually takes 45 minutes from his school)…. Lift lines were non existent, and someone kept shaking the snow globe. Cruised out at 3, no traffic but I did finally see the demin pit viper bus. Sometimes ya gotta ignore the naysayers and haters on this forum, seems like there’s more anti-stoke than stoke on the TGR forums these days.

Pretty sure everyone had a good time except this guy lol

brutah- I don't think anyone was thinking friday was going to be the issue. Today is going be the difficult one. Glad you had fun tho. I don't think discussing logistical issues that would prevent one from skiing is anti stoke but being real about the situation.

Looks like 14" overnight on the snowstake at basin, cottonwoods did well too.

    God speed all.

PSA for guides telling all of their clients who are parking at spruces. Please for the love of Ullr, CARPOOL. It’s not right that you use that lot and your mobs to take up all the spots.

Spruces lot has turned into an epic Ikon-esque shitshow the last few years regardless of whether there’s a couple l1 classes in the mix on any given day. I don’t even bother anymore. I just park at Mill D trailhead and walk up. You can also skin up the summer trail if you’re not worried about s facing. Adds 10min to the day but 100% less rage inducing

Made it up through heavy road snow last night. Looks wonderful out, interlodge still in effect. Road estimate 930 now.

The carpool thing should apply to porter fork too. So many cars this morning. Ran the dog up because I didn’t want to deal with the shitshow. Soft turns all the way down. Enjoy if you’re up. Should be good

We tried to do separate stoke/conditions and traffic/bitch threads but it hasn't worked out. I don't mind the bitching; I'm all for anything that amplifies the narrative that skiing in LCC isn't worth the squeeze.
