The LCC is gonna be a junk show Thursday evening thru Saturday morning if this forecast is anywhere close to accurate.
Expect the canyon closed both Thurday and Friday nights.
Expect a.m and p.m road shoots Friday, and another Saturday morning.
Expect not much open terrain Friday and Saturday at the ski areas.
Expect large avalanches in the range, hopefully without fatalities.
Time spent skiing cannot be deducted from one's life.

Appreciate the hard earned wisdom TFW. Thanks for the heads up

Hmm, the base pass guy needs to take Saturday or Sunday off regardless (med school, needs to study lol). Maybe we’ll make him take Saturday off so we can go wherever the road opens. Sunday we’ll aim for the bird

To help everyone out so they can ski this tomorrow, I'm going to go up Tanner's tonight and setup my bright yellow north face tent in the middle of the slide path so they can't shoot anything tomorrow.

Up at Snow Basin this morning. Strawberry = Wind Hold. John Paul = Wind Hold. Top of Needles = Blowing so hard that as I pointed them on the Strawberry Traverse, my 180lbs was actually pushed uphill. ....Phantom doing its job.

TFW almost certainly right but i cant read so im prob still going to get in line on saturday morning. The bird this morning had pretty amazing wind buff, i was basically stitching together pow laps. I had to sit down at the silver fox gate and wait for the wind to pass, i was really concerned I was going to get blown off. Props to to the blues for even running the tram, it was a spicy docking

Good weekend to go to Snowbasin and Deer Valley IMO, unless you have accomodations up canyon.
Just announced Thursday night closure. Could be a trend…

I’ll be in Vegas this weekend, so no doubt it will be the best turns of the year. But Godspeed to all you dealing with traffic the weekend.

The wind buff was firing today up at Alta. Not a ton of new snow, but the wind was doing good work.

Duffman, if I was you, I would make a quick audible and stay in Ogden Friday night and ski Snowbasin Saturday. Head up to the bird Saturday afternoon. Ogden is not quite as glitzy as the Cliff, but I bet you’ll have less stress.

Saturday Snowbasin is going to be an epic clusterfuck of Ikoners who can't get up the canyons, you sure about this? Heavy traffic, long lift lines, and potentially lifts not opening?

At this point weekend skiing had become the ultimate adventure in patience in the Wasatch.
At least we don't have I70 to deal with like those wankers next door. (biggrin)

At this point everything is going to be rough, biggest storm so far of the season and holiday weekend full of wankers like me coming in.

I would probably deal with the Snowbasin mess over LCC drama Sat like alias recommended, but too many moving parts w the family and a buddy's family in tow, Canyon Trans instead of car, ski school for the little one , etc. I've been on the very lucky side last few years getting country club days upcanyon ,I was due for a little suffering.

"The descent of these Ikoners, like locusts invasions since the time of the Pharaohs, was frequently foretold as falling on any upcoming holiday winter weekend. For thousands of years, these locusts have been seen as a symbol of destruction – a sign of cosmic disorder. The apocalyptic quality of Locusts in local skier minds seemed to be the reason why their grotesque figures – gargoyles – were sometimes carved into the architecture of churches and monasteries, perhaps creating a symbolic representation of hell." -Logunov, D.V. 2006. Locusts: God’s wrath or revelation

"When morning came, the northwest flow had brought the locusts. They devoured all the lift lines and all the powder that the snow had spread.” – Exodus (10: 13–15)

Haha. Nice.
Yeah, I am pretty sure ikon blackouts haven’t made a difference for a few years. Crowds regardless of pass type. Be safe everyone and enjoy the snow!

Think the SR210 closure overnight will make more people go to Solitude/Brighton tomorrow vs Alta/Snowbird?

Car wise? Solly and Brighton mostly require parking reservation tomorrow that are sold out, so that's kind of capped. Bus wise, probably .Looking at the snow cameras its its looking like a slow start up there. I'm going to double down against TFW and say they will get LCC open pretty quick tomorrow after they do control work. That doesn't mean it still won't be a shit show....Like 75% of the shit show they will have Saturday... And you still have to get down at the end of the day. If I'm wrong I'm brinng TFW beer Sunday afternoon I guess...

Got a roadside reservation for solitude tomorrow. Bird is free so either one works. Maybe we’ll try to go LCC
