Fucking hell the stoke in here is amazing. I was so close to pulling the trigger last season. Really close. Now it might be another couple years. Has anyone else done it gluten free? The internets basically say that JP is possibly the hardest nation in the world to eat GF.
I would agree with that assessment - depending on your level of gluten sensitivity you could be okay just sticking with soba (buckwheat noodles) which is widely available and very good, but I don't know if broth or other components contain wheat

    Japan 23/24 Season

I’ve been loving looking at this thread the past several days.
So glad you all had fun and props to gaijin for making the trek to turn it into a mini summit [emoji1]

Seeing the pic of Asahidake with fresh snow brings back memories of the time I was there and had the exact opposite conditions- the most un-edgable ice I have ever skied and I am from VT for context. It was kind of funny though after experiencing true japow where you go in for lunch (ramen) and come out to 6 inches of new snow.
How about the music played on the lifts- I enjoyed that.

Ps I like the nbabuckaroo moniker too

The drive was just long because of the snow. But my ham and cheese croissant-wiches with that special japanese mustard mayo made it proper.

Gluten free is not so hard, I often go that route. Actually only occasionally eat bread. Rice is everywhere. It's Keto that is hard to maintain for long durations, but I've done that, too.

If your gluten intolerance is a recent thing, might wanna look into the kidneys and liver. My history with the alcohols taught me that.

Nice pic of Asahidake. We walked up there on Monday (I think) for a tree line view. It was a very busy option on a bluebird day. Great soak after as well

I don't know why I said we were at Asahidake, we were at Tokachidake. Japan has me all messed up (in a good way)

Luckily I was able to squeeze in a few days on the work trip. I'll be in Hakuba this weekend, anyone around to ski?

Interesting enough I skied your zone Tuesday. Road was closed. After much persistence we convinced the highway workers to let us up. Luckily a couple groups follwed our lead and were able to get to just below alpine to enjoy tits deep blower…magical day! Onsen was 5* too!

We tried to head to Sahoro Tuesday but couldn't due to road closures, we hit up our backup Tomamu. It was quite a good day up there. It was a toss up on who was going to get the biggest snow. Turns out the wind is seen as a bigger issue than it is in the Rockies and neither had much upper access open

Glad pics are working again, only been home for 3 weeks but already itching to go back. Pow, ramen, onsen, beer and cocktails rinse and repeat. Doesn't get better.

Is there a doctor in the house? I don’t know what to with this boner I’ve had for the last few weeks… 3+ meters in the last few days…need a break from all this type 1 fun. Circled back to the snow globe to take advantage of that last bout with the Siberian winds…

Yo, TeamDirt. This happens. Sometimes JP gets so much snow that we almost get bored. So much reading the snow, playing it safe, hazards keeping us off the big lines that all we want is a day of sunny groomers . Haha. You&#39;ve been inducted into the JP Hall of Same. As in... Everyday just kinda feels the same as the other. We stop taking POV videos of our lines through the forests. We stop trying to take pics, period. Because everyone just looks the same. Blower. Welcome. You are now officially a Snow Snob. You&#39;ve been cursed. I wish you the best in your hunt for a sunny day, with safe snow, and or just a simple groomer zoomer with a cup of coffee to take the edge off. This is JP. When it&#39;s on-- It&#39;s, err... well, on. And it&#39;s a bit overwhelming. &quot; How is your daily driver a One Twenty-Two Under-foot, Reverse Camber? &quot;Well... It&#39;s almost a boring story.&quot;</p>

teamdirt. Amazing how the smaller hills are so deserted yet so tourist-free. All the crowds seem to be at the bigger locations

the lemming effect... probably doesn't help the ski area much with their bottom line, but it's nice to have a whole place to yourself. i really loved how easy it was to leave the crowds behind, and meet some very nice local people. This 78 year old guy I met on the first ride up Ani insisted on showing me all of the side lines and their return route to the lift. I had a great day skiing with him. or trying to keep up with him, at least... 25 years older and was skiing away from me in that real deep shit!

We had a great day like that at Kamui. Small place full of school kids on the easy runs, some race training on a course and no one on the rest of the hill.
