ya I'm sorry gonna have to hard disagree with this sentiment, that's the dumbest shit I've read on the Internet all day.
I genuinely don't think you could have skied the snow we skied with 100s. Maybe somewhere with less snow or more untracked snow.

^^ cool pic. Stoked for you.
Next trip is in the books...Arai. February twenty-seventh to March second.
Maybe a day or two additional at each end depending on all that weather jazz. Always easy to sleep in the van in the event that lodging can't be extended. I drive to/from Yamagata so if you're somewhere in-between, maybe that can work.
If any of you are around…

Thanks, Muted! Awesome skiing with you. And I can’t believe we practically crossed paths hundreds of times around the world before actually meeting.
We lived in the same towns at the same time and had the same friend circles. Mind blowing.

Thank ya! And this also means Tapatalk doesn’t require HEIC conversions to jpeg, that is sweet.
Gaigin I also worked most Of the bigger IFSA events, I was usually up at the start gate, so we probably crossed paths there too, ha. I can’t remember if I mentioned that already.
So this was the volcano we were going to start our trip on, Mt Iwake. Looking good from the air. We were the only skiers on the plane, which was also looking good.
We skied Aomori Springs on the volcano, a very flat ski hill with good touring above it. The higher you went, the more wind blasted it got though. Which is similar to lotsa tall peaks in Japan. We went up until we could barely stand.
There was a building at the bottom with big glass windows that was made to serve ramen - similar to the one in Furano and only $7 for a bowl.

We spent the next week and a half bopping around some smaller ski areas. Edit: TGapp and I, when planning the trip, wanted to ski and see the real Japan and avoid resorts and whitey as much as possible and overall it worked out. We luckily skied pow every day even while going over there during a dry spell.![]()

I wanted some culture on the trip which you can’t get at the main tourist resorts in Japan. One temple I had to myself - there would have been hundreds of people there if it was Kyoto. I skipped day 9 of skiing to see it and a few more things - and day 9 was a sleeper thigh deep day. Fack! Some non skiing stuff we saw on the trip-

Meeting Gaijin at a random ski hill was a highlight. He drove a LONG way to meet up! The hill ended up having lotsa good trees but I don’t have good pics - others did.
We put in some tracks to get out of a few tree zones, and I only fell in one creek hole, and I panicked for a sec before realizing I was OK and could get out.
Mrs Tgapp skied a lot and worked on her turns the whole trip which was impressive. Thanks to her, Tgapp, Nbabuckaroo and The Vinster for a great trip!

Skied 1/13-20 with Phall, our wives and another friend on Phall's "matesmoon". Similiar zone to tgapp and co by the looks of it. We scored with just-after-storm conditions > several day storm > couple days post-storm skiing. Thankfully just before the warmup/dry spell.</p>

Tgapp is kidding, kinda/ Phall, did you go to the soul club too? NBAbuckaroo got on the Soul Clubs IG, the owner was very happy for a pro skier to visit him! Looks like you all had a great trip too. Maybe we saw some of your old tracks here and there. teamDirt, looks like you scored another good descent. It was windswept shit off that peak when we went last year.
Soul bar is the shit. he hardly let us leave. Jtran made me edit, haha! thats a special corner of the world.

You'll be one year older when you do.....
Fucking hell the stoke in here is amazing. I was so close to pulling the trigger last season. Really close. Now it might be another couple years. Has anyone else done it gluten free? The internets basically say that JP is possibly the hardest nation in the world to eat GF.
