Great racing today (unless you were Sophia Goggia)

Frederica Brignone’s first DH win - the oldest to ever win a WC DH
Malorie Blanc takes second in her 2nd ever WC race - with like bib no. 45
Vonn takes 6th - really impressed with the lines she skied

    Well done ladies

I agree it's a bad association, and maybe an argument to start an entirely new comeback thread devoted to this latest chapter, but on the other hand it is a single place to browse around and have a look at the incredible ride she's had over the past 10+ years. For her to be back where she is now truly is "Super incredible all around"!!

Mods can change it if people want. When irul started the new thread I thought that was the point, but he started it in padded room...
But I agree being able to scroll back and see stuff some a decade ago is nice. But yeah, who wants to focus on the crash every day?

When her latest journey started, I was a little skeptical since she’s kind of a publicity hound and all, but holy shit man, sixth place after all her injuries, and being 40 years old…unbelievable.

Awesome places by the US women. That course was absolutely terrifying.

    OK.[emoji849]
I just read that she was the oldest woman to place in the top four of a World Cup race.

so psyched for how she is skiing, at 40 after knee replacement, it's incredible.

the thread title doesn't bother me at all, it's like the bag of dicks a-basin thread or the clusterfuck Eldora thread, it's just the adopted Vonn thread.

Definitely impressive! Great to see that her mental toughness hasn't waned. I anticipated her being less aggressive than the field and struggling to compete. Clearly I was wrong! Would be really cool to see a podium from her and it no longer seems a pipe dream.

Welp, she crashed yesterday in training at Cortina
Sez “her bum is sore but otherwise she feels fine”

I sent her team a text last night offering to fly over to massage her butt.
    They haven’t yet responded.

Daaaamn...that can't be good for the mental. Those margins are just so slim and any hesitation conscious or subconscious on game day could be the difference between 1st and 15th, or, dnf. But then again, she's prolly one of the strongest in the field when it comes the mind game, so, go Vonn! Remarkable comeback thus far.

I suspect that she has the same brain chemistry as Alex Honnold. She's had so many injuries, only the tiniest fraction of people could ignore that and still ski fast and take chances with no hesitation.

I’d heard of it before, but didn’t realize it was a requirement for Super-G and Downhill this season.

The guy interviewed here sounds like a bit of a whiny bitch, but whatevs.

Given what parents need to spend to get there kids to FIS level, I can’t believe that $1000 CAD is going to be prohibitive for many of these racers.

The whining seems similar to when HANS devices were becoming mandated in motorsports, but it turns out that it’s nice for your spine not to rip apart in a crash.
