Based on her results so far and how close she already has come to a podium -- as close as is possible -- and given how she just got back in the game, if I was a betting man I would bet that she sees a podium again. Even a win would not surprise me at this point.

The USA didnt open up a spot for Lindsey to waltz back in, that was done by FIS in creating the legacy exception for this year that allowed both Vonn and Hirscher to race with points exemptions. Lindsey is not taking anyones A team slot that deserves it, as there are no minimum or maximum numbers of athletes slated to be on the A team.
A team slots are earned based on acheiving a start ranking among the top 25 athletes in FIS for a given event, and all B, C, and D teamers need to earn A status based on culmative finishes that put them in the top 25 ranking.
She is for sure a drama queen but also was pretty sick coming into the World Champs, so maybe those top 20 results dont represent her best efforts, but with out a doubt she is still competing at a high enough level to justify inclusion on the circuit.
Move upside and let the man go through...

Umm, based on her results, it's over. She's in the top 40, so she's clearly a good racer and formerly the best DH racer, but you really think she's going to podium?
Does she need a podium finish to make the US Olympic team? I doubt every skier on the US squad is going to have a World Cup podium under their belt.

Vonn takes second in superG at Sun Valley, behind Lara Gut-Behrami but ahead of Brignoni.

I’m not a big fan of hers, but that run was smooth and fast

    Well done!

Pretty cool! It was a rather difficult day for visibility and less than ideal snow and temps, but far better than yesterdays cancellation of the DH. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_8KBzFOP2A

    Same.

Not a fan of her public persona, but the chick can ski.
