Despite the weekend/pow day/holiday crowds, I fought the urge to stay home and drove with the crowds, parked too far away, stood in line to hear…buzzz when my pass scanned. Then the lifty said “you have a weekday only pass.”

I forgot that I swore off weekends last spring when I bought my pass

Very good today. Very happy to leave just before the road closure was announced.

Border line country club conditions at Alta today. Shit was firing all day. Shout out to ASP for getting and keeping the hill open.

I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

The bird was firing today. Almost ski on singles line all day, free refills, and most as tuff was open.

I punched in the Cirque traverse, went back for seconds and still got untracked.
Lucked out and parked almost at the top of entry 2, was home 30 minutes after the road opened. Feel bad for the folks who won't get home from Alta until 9....

You can all thank me. Today was my last day working at Alta after twenty plus years and the snow gods knew it. Skied until my legs fell off, enjoying my last day of skipping lines. Bird pass locked and loaded for the rest of the year, won’t drive pass entry one for easy exits home.

Classic LCC gong show. Kid was wrapping up a wrestling tourney in morning so couldn't get up early. Tried to catch the 10:40 944 up, waited 1.5 hours for the bus, another 1.5 hrs in full Tokyo subway style from Highland to creekside. Totally worth it it within the first five turns. Clutch ride down from BobMc and the Hugehairdog and home by 5:45.

Wasn't up for the L/BCC shit show, so I headed to DV. Pretty good and empty. The wind was angry, but man it was nice to have ski in some winter conditions!

It definitely is always an adventure on these days. We debated the departure time last night, settled on a time that would have us soon after opening. Woke up to a foot, fuck, in a good and bad way. A quick look at traffic cams and it became apparent our arrival time was blown out of the water.

We hit traffic just past Bengal, it became non moving soon after. It was a soul crushing three hour drive. Highlights were watching a lady go behind a tree to pee just past the swamp lot. Watching the Mazda CX in front of us lose upward progress on the hill past the turn off for La Caille, after several attempts while sliding westward they decided to retreat, we gave them the thumbs up as they turned around in front of us.

I struggled with vision issues and retreated to the truck fairly quickly. Hugehairdog had a hell of a day with his pied piper crew and Dan. Rocks were jumped, pow was torn apart.

For a while I was worried my 30 season streak of never being trapped overnight was in jeopardy. They announced a sneaky (although not surprising) closure at 1:30, for 1:45. Road was shot, slides hit the road, UDOT snow removal began. No estimated time of opening was announced.

Thankfully around 4:10 or so the road opened. We’d parked at Zoom, I was happy about that. Sorry if it was anyone here that tried to not let us in on the merge from the lower Zoom to upper. Be aware, my truck is old and big, my kid will exchange sheet metal if you try to not merge.

Lotta people having to be pushed out of the lots. 6-8 inches of snow in the lots separated those that could make it there and those that could make it away from there.

It’s always an adventure. Looking forward to doing it tomorrow again.

No estimated opening time yet for LCC. We shall see.

Edit: I stand corrected. They said 8:30 last night…

I’ve been a dual pass guy for past twenty years. Just don’t have to drive up to Alta to work anymore.

Today was a pretty solid post-storm day until the riming fog rolled in. Was not expecting a Get Serious opening. Got a couple of lines in all time conditions.

Mike, Travis and I were on Zoom to see your first pass through. I saw you above the cliff before you dropped, “That looks like Dan…”. You drop and come under us, Mike, “That is Dan.”

    I’m sure you heard us.

Thanks for the stoke all, excited to be back in a bit.
Anti-stoke question.... Haven't been up to Solitude in a minute, what's the deal with the mea culpa letter they emailed out yesterday? Have things been a mess there?

I get to work this morning and one of my employees tells me he saw me on Instagram...

We rolled up to Snowbird on Sunday and there's a girl parked in front of us that pranced around posing the whole time we were booting up. We weren't sure what the hell she was doing.

Her hashtags are pretty funny, I never saw her boot up or even leave the lot.
