Anti-stoke question.... Haven't been up to Solitude in a minute, what's the deal with the mea culpa letter they emailed out yesterday? Have things been a mess there?
I just skied there today for the first time in 5? years, there's oddly not much open and not much groomed. Super weird, you'd think some of the patrol, groomers, avie dogs, and the lifties are all on strike but they are not. I'll give their long list of excuses some weight, but it all doesn't add up perfectly. I don't really care though and I'll ski somewhere else until they get their shit together, maybe later this month.

Her hashtags are pretty funny, I never saw her boot up or even leave the lot.

Anybody got a good bootfitter? My UofU-attending daughter has a bit of an issue. She thinks she needs a bootbed ground to drop things lower in her boot.

No kidding. I went to the ticket window to dispute it, absolutely sure that there must be a mistake. She told me the date that I made the purchase and I pulled it up on my email and sure enough.

Anyway, I went up today for the morning and was pleasantly surprised at the lack of people and was like, yeah, this makes sense.

Musky at Sportsden is great, and closest.
Mandy at WasatchCustomFitz is who i use, lots of opnion here though. Booking link (https://calendar.google.com/calendar...ZL2PvveTNykCI=)
Deep powder house at Alta, and SportLoft have received good recommendations from friends but never personally used.

I would skip the Sports Den for footbeds. I got custom footbeds there last year and they are unusable. I had someone I don't remember set them up initially, and went back to have Musky re-mold them and they are still unbearable. If I had more time I would have demanded my money back but I ended up just throwing them away.

I'll second Mandy at Wasatch Custom Fitz. She's my go-to bootfitter!

Opened high baldy traverse (including access to high tower) for about 5 hours before opening keyhole gate at Alta

those are some Ikonic complaints being addressed in that letter.
thats some odd strategy, were there SB folks traversing on the W side of the rope to Keyhole?

It’s extremely common for ASP to open up baldy chutes and not open it from the bird side. Despite the fact that they hiked from the tram to run the routes. Funny thing is I talked with some boarders ( long time bird people) who were saying how they never go out to keyhole but did today. ASP has been waiting for Bird patrol to open the gate for a few years now. And it’s not exactly high on the Bird patrol priority. Especially today when they were life flighting a patient from half way up little cloud.

Yeah I hear you on the baldy chutes gate opening, no disagreement there. I believe in first come first serve regardless of what pass is in your pocket. With the caveat that lower gates should be held for a bit to preserve fall line skiing (not the issue with baldy or keyhole).

Back when I could justify a dual pass, I'd do the first lap from the Alta side, then hit keyhole, then pop up the tram to get the easier walk back up Baldy. Sometimes I'd get shut out and have to just do the armpit gate.

I heard the life flight was just a practice run, but I could be wrong.

The main issue IMO with holding back the keyhole gate is that they're gonna tempt people to rope duck. I held firm yesterday as did those around me, but it's tough to be standing by a rope and watching people come right by on the other side of the rope.

My son and I made the trip from DV to Alta today. We waited about an hour for the backside open. He says it was definitely worth it!

Any recommendations on a DV/Park City area bootfitter that can set this kid up with a pair of footbeds?

Wasatch 24/25-Stoke, Conditions, and general debauchary

We were just out last week. My wife had a great experience with Brent and Ed at https://www.parkcityskiboot.com/newsite/. Contact the office manager, Belle, and set up an appointment. No pressure and very helpful.

Wasatch Noob question, Heading out Sunday for a week of skiing at the Bird, Alta, Basin and Brighton. I was bringing Enforcer 104`s but it looks like a low tide week. I have 94`s as well. Any advice would be appreciated- I`m only bringing one pair. The weeks not starting great either, sprained my right AC joint skiing the ice at Loon yesterday.

Lots of people daily drive wide skis here, but I'd definitely suggest the 94 given the forecast, especially with a sprained knee.

either skis are fine, a lot of locals use 11* every day. My daily's are 107mm, but my 99s may also come out this week. With a bad knee I'd recommend 94s for the next week.
