Can anyone verify? They still don't have the East Peak web cam back online.
The past is a foreign country; they do things differently there.

Actually I love singing (but I doubt you would love my singing). I like sitting around with a guitar with folks singing the boomer classics.
A backpack guitar sounds like a good option.
One time skiing the Vallee Blanche we stopped for lunch at the Requin hut and were serenaded by a group of guides singing traditional songs in excellent 4 part harmony.

the trail out to Castle Valley was groomed by TNSAR snocats out doing training with the CHP helicopter - had a good view of the air show today - super easy traveling on the groomer

skied the northwest trees on Castle down into Round Valley, climbed back out to Castle Pass, then went up the ridge to Andesite and out down the east facing trees

great snow in the shade - good surface and near-surface recrystallization last night - the skiing was really good

If you lost your dog in Judah ridge area, I spotted it this morning at 08:30 sheltering in the rocks at the summit. I didn't get closer than 30 feet and it bolted. I looked around for ~15minutes but couldn't find. Hopefully it took off west toward resort. Looked like a labradoodle with white/redish coloring. Text me if you want to talk more

called SB patrol and sounds like they've been looking for this dog, so probably wandered up from the resort.

same tour as yesterday with similar conditions - the stuff in the trees stayed good, while the stuff that got a little sun on it yesterday got a little crust

fkn junk show trying to get out of the Castle Peak snopark this afternoon - multiple fuckups fucking up and blocking traffic - I feel bad for the families driving in to the end of the lot and turning around and coming back out - one guy told me it took him over an hour to cycle through for nothing

it’s a drag because there’s really not anywhere for the tourists to sled but they block the road and parking for backcountry users - walking back I saw a carload of skiers pull in and look like they were going to bail so I talked to them and waited for them to get to where I was parked so they’d have a space

I think it took me 10-15 minutes to get out around noon, I had parked right across from the porta potties. I was just laughing at the absurdity and entertainment the whole time. The 4 cars in line in front of me were backing out the whole way.

Skiing was worth it though. And the groomed skin track was luxurious

KW was a lot of fun today. Much better skiing than expected. And no one around. A few friends. Mashed potatoes and his boys. The slopes were empty.

I really enjoy my Wrenegades but they work my legs sooooo much more than my Wildcats.

It was misting along KW Meadow Drive and hour ago. Deck thermo read 33F. Who knows what is happening upslope at this point. Looks like tomorrow gets warm.

Wow. I guess they all went to HV [emoji20]
It was "it's a holiday" busy there. At least on NV side. Plus windy, so most chairs running at half speed.

Full disclosure. Chair 7 and 5 were packed. The base areas were crowded. But it was ski right on to all the other lifts and after a few inches of morning snow and wind, the hill was buffed.

Looks a bit wet out there this morning but way more cars pulling in.

I'm more excited about the meteor shower viewing tonight than the slopes today. Tho that sunshine is gonna feel good. One more day and then back to the surf.

Happy New Year from the portal!

Grab bag of wintry conditions out and about. Glad we’re getting a cold topper before the high pressure sets in.

Kirkwood was not good today. It rained overnight and then froze. They had to delay opening for 30 min to re-groom. A few soft zones around if you knew where to look but too firm to open the wall or sentinel road. What a difference a day makes as yesterday was great. Hopefully 666 brings the snow!
