Anyone have a system for doing karaoke in a remote location without WiFi, like maybe a backcountry hut? Is there something compact and lightweight, maybe that uses my own BT speaker and downloaded music?

Mount Rose summit yesterday... again... winds dropped after 1pm, got to the top of Tammy and it was pretty busy, because every other pass around Tahoe apparently got rained on up to 8500'+ and everyone had the same idea. It was basically one big wind buff/slab the whole ride down Hourglass trees, a bit too grabby in spots. Some said it was "good" but I'd place it a "marginally OK" as there were only a few zones that were somewhat soft. Skied mostly like a groomer that periodically wanted to grab your edges and pull the rug out from under you.

Looks like warm air moved in and rotted things overnight. Will have to wait until Sunday/Monday to see where things go, but another 120mph wind event on the peaks... will wait and see. Want to get down south of the Lake next week, but getting the warm southern fringe on this pattern is getting old.

Remind me not to do a BC with you. (Not that I'd be invited.)

The rainy weather is bummin me out. My plan was to wander around in the back country this week, but it's just goo out there. I should probably just get some work done. Fingers crossed for cooler temps tomorrow.

The 26th was a lot of fun at AM, but I was soaked within about an hour. I saw one guy out there with the garbage bag over layer. He was looking like a genius.

I took whiskey to rose summit with only a little time before some tech washing and spray on direct.
After first lap someone mentioned there was no reason to go further back since this was way better. So 4 laps on bathroom face it was

    I appreciate your dedication.

I'm hoping for some decent storm skiing tomorrow and maybe some fresh turns Monday.

Today took a bit more motivation. Parking became available and although I’m blacked out I just did a rainy lap on subway. The snow was surprisingly fast. The spray on worked with the jacket that was already in decent shape but not with the beat up pants.

Good parking management is very important!

Kirkwood has been fun the past two afternoons. Rainy this morning. But the afternoon was mostly clear. Snow was wet but the right lines were skiing plenty fun. Hope we get a reset cause we are around through Friday.

Top of 10 to a groomer below was my favorite laps of the day.

Clearing by 3. They've closed Chair 10 the past two days at 3:30 so they "could do patrol work". The lofty yesterday told me "tomorrow's gonna be a better day". Ha. Rained all morning.

Last chair. Stars out now. Gorgeous night.

Looking good! You think they will manage to get 6 or 10 open today? I get one day between today and tomorrow and trying to figure out the move.

This afternoon was like country club skiing. Four laps off 10 that were top to bottom (where the Drain starts) u tracked. Each lap got better as the snow got deeper and the bottom less obvious.

Then 6 opened back up. Had to meet my family at TC, got to the top of Sentinel and no one had yet traversed out. I looong traverse out to a line in near Palisades I thought would be good. Felt like being in the backcountry with no sign of any tracks until I hit the groomer at the base. Convinced my kid to go back up with me and we scored again. No tracks around for the top 70% and then just avoiding a few down low.

It's not deep. But very buffed out. And was skiing wonderfully at 3pm.

Vail patrol union says the problem started with corporate deciding to send managers to park city ahead of the strike. Not only did they make it obvious they would rather compromise on guest safety than work with the union to retain more experienced staff, vail also chose to ruin guest experience at multiple mountains. Park City ops has been a dumpster fire this week.

You sound like a lot of fun. The idea was to figure out something minimalist so we don't regret packing it if we can't get the other guests to participate or at least thumbs up the singing. I'm sure there will be an out-of-tune guitar there that we can wail on.

Yesterday Rose Knob vicinity skied great- 6"+ of wind buff with another couple inches of pow on top with bluebird up high. Very springy stuff, catapulted from one turn to the next- airborne transitions were pretty standard. Little drops here and there were super fun, never felt the crust underneath. Dug a quick pit, no surprises. South faces were expectedly getting wet/heavy by noon. just about 2500' vert over two laps, could've done that again given how much fun I was having, but it isn't about me as the girlfriend isn't acclimated to the higher elevations yet this season so called it early.

Overall, things were very stable which is good given the crowd showing up for the best snow of the holiday week. It was BUSY- to be expected. relatively very busy in the hinterland of the Mt Rose backcountry, where I would expect nobody on a Monday otherwise.

To OG's credit, your proposal sounded perilously close to the "bluetooth speaker dangling from the backpack on the trail" phenomenon that we all love so much.

FYI: your anti-default-signature signature is the only signature I ever see on anyone's posts...
