I definitely don’t understand having a beacon on your person and not having it on. Definitely interesting over here, always people dropping on to slopes above you. Seems like the do what you want where you want ski culture of Europe has turned into some pretty poor etiquette on big days at busy spots.

Just spent 4 days in Val d'Herens and even with the mildish temps, the snow is holding up great. Lots of settled, textured boot top powder available if you are in to that kind of thing.

Two days in Val d’isere now. Main runs are great especially in the morning sun but it’s low tide still pretty much everywhere off piste. Love the town so far and trying to not OD on cheese. New storm rolling in tomorrow night, pray for mojo.

If you get a refresh, may I suggest going to the head of the valley to Le Fornet and bang out some Vallone laps? Its super straight forward and a wide canvas to paint upon.

Was over there this morning actually. Going to take a pretty significant dump to firm the base up there. Looks like the Christmas storm was super windy and blew a lot of the snow off the more exposed aspects.

Klosters is not high tide except for a few good stashes. As mentioned above, surface hoar on north faces looking terrifying for the next snow dumps. South-facing looks like it is ready for the corn harvest.

Yes and no. It was super windy, but here west wasn't the problem. It was the day after with the strong northeast winds which fucked everything.

Base is solid here. I hope the 20-30cm work out nicely here.

when a retour d'est comes in that end picks up extra snow than the rest of the area. There's some super terrain down that end and the tree skiing us immense

My 8yr old sleeps like a hungover teen which is mostly good but is tough for ski trips. Her ski school here starts at 9 and I’m rushing her out the door every morning….

What’s up Bob!

Epic morning at Val D. Gondy delayed as well as a lot of other upper lifts. Got rope drop on terrain under Manchet lift which was incredible. Made way over to le fornet side and got some laps off pyramids lift to lookers left (I think this is vallons area). Snow is grip deep in spots but the sharks are still out. Quite the teaser of what is available here with more of a base!

Update: got into the trees over on far side skiers right of fornet. Got lucky on some spots with thin to little base, key was to just point it as much as possible and float. Trees were tighter than I expect and gave me Vermont flashbacks in a good way. Enjoying beer and tartiflette pizza at le signal now. Je t'aime France!

Valais was fun but not world changing today. I sorely miss those 15-20 extra the titlis and glarus got. The 25 ish were fun though. But it's been pretty busy.....

Boomer: this week should be fun in France. No more tourists. Plenty of fresh refills.

Yup, was over there for the dry/sunny part earlier this week. The funicular was pretty insane, quite the engineering feat! Got up to Grand Motte and lapped that 3 days early in the day before it got scraped off. Didn't hit much else over there to the north of Val Claret but it did look pretty expansive but on he more mellow side. Trying to ski with the sun here is the move yet pretty challenging this time of year.

Heading back to Paris today to see some friends & family then back to gringo land. Overall very happy with the trip. Val d'isere was an incredible place with really limitless terrain given some more snowpack. The town & food were all amazing, particularly the on-food options. Makes me sad that in the US we pay $20 for a dry POS burger and here for 12 euros i'm having the plat d'jour of blanquette de veau or beef bourg...
