If you don't eat shit, you won't know what it tastes like. However, bourbon tastes like ass.

Fukt: a very small amount of snow.
My philosophy:
Drink what you like.
Life is too short to pick a drink type and be a dick about it.
If I buy a bottle of Lagavulin and want to mix it with WalMart brand cola and ice cubes that’s my prerogative - I shouldn’t deny myself enjoyment based on other people’s preferences.
For bourbon I prefer wheated bourbon so for cheap Larceny small batch is a solid choice. For a mid-level price range Makers Mark barrel proof is a my go to. For a higher price I like Larceny full proof. I also really like Weller (any variety), but I haven't been able to find that bourbon anywhere near me in years.

IMO if you don't like scotch/ Canadian/ Irish, Bourbon whiskey well that just saves you a bunch of money
I got a cupboard with some hard liqour but I rarely drink it, I still have some good scotch I would buy in Banff on the way to rogers pass cuz it was 20$ cheaper and it gets mixed with a splash of water or neat,
I don't see much point in mixing expensive booze with suger pop but YMMV you should do what you like eh
I don't drink beer at home but I do keep a 4 pack of craft brew for when the dr does a wellness check and NZ wine by the case

Lol
My problem is I find almost all hard liquor delicious. Gin on the rocks? Yes please.
I find it interesting that some people say they love bourbon but hate rye. Or love scotch whisky but hate Irish Whiskey. I don’t judge though - drink what you like. There’s lots to go round.
Sidebar: I also find it funny when people say they don’t want a drop or two of water into their whisky because they don’t want to dilute it - meanwhile what was poured out of that bottle into the glass had water added to it prior to bottling to dilute to the intended percentage alcohol.

Good starter drinks.
Black Crown Royal and ginger ale
Old Fashioned
Buffalo Trace on the rocks, along with a ton of other milder bourbons. Stay under 100 proof.
Know how you didn't like beer the first taste, same here. Same with gin and tonic water. Takes some adjustments.
In order to properly convert this thread to a polyasshat thread to more fully enrage the liberal left frequenting here...... (insert latest democratic blunder of your choice).
I met a guy on course who's dad was an ex flyer for the Canadian air force so growing up he would meet WWII flyers all the time and these guys could drink. So all the booze for the officers mess was stored in his basement, he told me the LCB stuff could be shit OR it could also be really good excess from a distillery so they would buy a bottle get a few aces together to do a taste and if everybody thot it was quality they buy cases of the stuff
the Laphroig 1/4 cask is 46 % cuz according to legend they would sling those mini kegs either side of a horse to dodge the revenuers over the moors so they wanted more % of alcohol for the volume & weight
I don't really see Bourbon being that popular up this side of the line eh ?
Irish whiskey was WAY cheaper than scotch whiskey last time I bought a bottle
apparently there are scotch style products made all over the world now like in Japan ??? WTF eh

^^Using all ur/ and others Bourbon recommendations….I did not purchase yet/ but when I go to my local….I am looking for:
Woodford Reserve
Buffalo Trace
Eagle Rare
Weller
Elijah Craig
A bottle of one of these and some Etsy “Philly sports teams” etched bourbon glasses should be a good Secret Santa gift for a Bourbon drinking boyfriend of our niece. They both live and teach in Philadelphia.
I have met many master distillers and whiskey ambassadors over the course of my career. Every last one shares this view. “The best way to drink my whiskey is the way you like it…”. At one point, according to one of them, Balvenie & Coke was supposedly the top cocktail in Spain
If you don't drink booze, at all, then JD, Old Grandad, Wild Turkey, Knob, Maker's, Whistling Pig, High West, or any other corn/Rye whiskey will prolly give you trouble. Start out with something cheap and sweet, like Southern Comfort or Yukon Jack. You will like that and go on from there. That's what I did, at least.

3 distilleries in a town of 5000?, they also make gin!
Whisky drinker here. No e for me.
If you were my secret Santa and bought me a bottle of Famous Grouse or anything on the Scotch shelves more expensive than it, I would be pretty happy, but I like peated, floral, and sherried.
