was it fun?
I’d prefer to not go back if that’s an answer.

One night in jail in Marin County got me off my ass into the work I needed to be doing to get and STAY sober. I already knew my way wasn't working, but getting locked up for a night was enough to really send it home. I like freedom and for me that means total abstinence from drugs and alcohol. The only way I get total abstinence is through a program. I've got a few 24s so I'm gonna keep doing it.
SoVT hit me up if you need an ear. Lots of maggot doing this thing.
I did 43 days and have 6-12 months suspended with two years probation. No alcohol is a condition. Can smoke plenty of weed though

Well shit this is TGR, what did you do this time trip report please and thank you! Any dead hookers?
Ex pulled psycho shit and got me with a violation of probation hold without bail. It was shit. Had 100 channels of cable in my cell though so I caught up on plenty of movies and tv. Pretty decent at dice and still crush at cribbage. So it was a win. Plenty of coffee.

Wild world we live in now when you can smoke to your heart’s content but no alcohol allowed on probation. My only arrest was for weed. With my probation no weed but could drink. Also that was 25 years ago.
Keep on keeping on Joey. I'm sure the hippo/pup missed you and would prefer to keep you around!
Well, it’s been a long year, my friend is 120 days sober and started her new job Monday and has some more custody. Technically, she relapsed once, but blew zeros.
Every single person I spoke to told me to let her hit rock bottom, even die. Her mother told me she’d die, there were a couple days at my place I thought they were right. We were past rock bottom.
I am out of this relationship, not even gonna stay friends, just friendly, saw some shit, and learned a lot etc.. women in this situation become very vulnerable to predators, something I never thought about. But I can’t do more, my health went down hill and I’m smoking weed again to deal.
Anyway, hopefully my last post in here. But I truly empathize with all, it’s changed me, and how I look at alot.
It’s never felt so good to sleep with my dog and go to work. Thank fucking Christ my PO didn’t opt for the ankle bracelet…. Wouldn’t have been able to ski…. I’m on my best behavior regardless.

Hugs for hippos!
Good luck SoVT & all y'all taking this journey however you are traversing it. US Culture & particularly our little slice of mountain play culture celebrates booze & even now weed too much. As the late great Dr Gaf said once, Paraphrasing here the types of people who get into risk taking sports and the type of people who go all in on substances have a lot in common. Glad to have cut way back on both to enjoy all I have more and more.
Heres to having a Busch NA with a few of you this season
We managed to cut away just enough of the back of a Salomon rear entry boot to accommodate an ankle bracelet back in the day, but I wouldn't recommend it.
Getting out of jail with your head on straight is a real good place to start, sounds like you've got more than just substances to quit (like being anywhere near your ex). You're already through the first month and a half, fifty days is right around the corner. Nice work and keep it up.
I thought this Instagram post by Angel Collinson about her alcohol addiction and sobriety was worth sharing here. Wishing her the best in her journey going forward.

That was awesome yeahman. Thanks for sharing.
Today’s a good day to remind anyone on the fence that avoiding alcohol for a sustained period of time really will change your outlook on the function and role it plays within your life.
If you’re even mildly considering sobriety I would say the writings on the wall.

What we have here is an intelligence failure. You may be familiar with staring directly at that when shaving. .

Ditto. Cool to hear that. A lot of that resonates. 1/1 is 4 yrs no alcohol for me. She mentioned her influences, idols, role models. Rich Roll podcast definitely played a big role my first year or so. Not every episode necessarily but the ones w/ sober folks, endurance athletes, those who battled addiction etc are a good resource and I found to be motivating and really spoke to me.
Also, echo what TZ said.
I wish I would’ve gave it up a long time ago before I did. Life has only got better without it.
Happy New Year and best wishes to those that might be struggling.
