Just heard a blurb. Parents split, mom on meth. Moved, new school this year. Probably getting hazed big time. Sucks.
Parents being garbage to their children. Voila.

Yeah, that sucks. Sounds like the kid was dealing with personal troubles that would make it inadvisable for him to have access to firearms.

Imagine. The FBI/sheriff tell you they are investigating your kid for making violent threats.

Later you decide to buy your kid an AR15 as a “holiday gift”.

Exsparky should let the parents of the deceased know it coulda been worse had the Dad bought the killer an iPhone instead.

I asked AI to create an image with a scarecrow and a red fish. Inexplicably, the first three scarecrows had jack-o-lanterns for heads. Then I asked for a straw man riding a red fish, and they were underwater like they were both sea creatures. So this was the only one that (sort of) got the point across.

As someone that owns guns and uses them for hunting the two locations that I've heard described as the greatest reasons for gun control are behavior at public gun ranges and the conversations that are had at the gun counter at places that sell firearms.

Where are you seeing that mom had a drug habit? I can’t find anything about that, only that the parents split, son went with dad and the daughters went with mom.

Where are you seeing that dad bought the kid the gun as a “holiday gift”? I can’t find anything to that effect, only that dad knowingly allowed the kid to have a firearm, and LE isn’t saying more than that.

This is no doubt a fucked up situation, but let’s stick to facts.

Was a news blurb saying that mom had been arrested w meth etc last year. They moved whatever...

Yeah I didn't see anything saying he was gifted an ar.

The dad is solely to blame. Kid was flagged making threats the year before. You don't have guns around period let alone something he can get to.

    CNN

"Colin Gray told investigators this week he had purchased the gun used in the killings as a holiday present for his son in December 2023, according to two law enforcement sources with direct knowledge of the investigation.
One source told CNN the AR-15-style rifle was purchased at a local gun store as a Christmas present. The timeline the teen’s father provided to authorities would put the gun purchase months after authorities first contacted Gray and his family to investigate school shooting threats made online."

My 13yr old son had routine pediatric doc appointment yesterday and she always asks how is school going, any drama? That’s why they ask those screening questions……it’s a very brief chance to help.

When I did a bit of primary care in Alaska, one of my son’s classmates in kindergarten was really problematic and disruptive for the class. Nobody liked him. When he was in 3rd grade I saw this poor kid come in the ER for mental health eval with police after threatening a class. Then I met his mom in primary care as a patient, she was meth/alcohol, moving to lower 48, leaving her son.

That’s the background of these kids. When you see first hand the lives kids in this country are living it gives you better insight into why they are so troubling in school.

Our society is just shit. We raise our kids in chaos and we do nothing about “gun control” even as school shootings become so common it’s not even news.

Meanwhile they just pump out more cheap guns, cheap drugs, lost kids and criminals to screw up the streets.

Responsible gun owner and 2A supporter, amirite?!

This is, unfortunately, more the norm when it comes to gun owners in the US than the exception. Why can’t we make it harder for people to buy firearms? I know why, a large segment of the population puts individual rights ahead of society’s rights in this country and it will be our downfall.

Oh, I find really ironic, maybe fitting, that the shooter in this case is named Colt, the name of the company that originally marketed the AR15. Someone should run with that and start a viral campaign to put them out of business.

Lol, i have a .22. I went to buy an extra 10rd magazine an a box of 100 rounds at a local gun store. Making small talk i mentioned that i just planned to plink while camping, or maybe out while hiking... the shop employee proceeded to give me a HARD sell about putting that wussy 10rd mag back and getting a 100rd drum magazine for some real fun! Im sure he is a hardcore 2nd ammendment guy too.

Also fun fact, i was able to purchase my .22 in WA with a different address on my background check, than appeared on my drivers license (had recently moved). And they say its too hard to buy a gun. JFC.

Guns have been the leading cause of death for children and teens for five consecutive years, with 4,590 under the age of 19 killed in 2022.
If that is not the most embarrassing statistic for any sane American, I don't understand. I just don't.

While I oppose the death penalty, this situation seems like the best argument for a public stoning.
