To combine a couple threads, remember Mr. Magoo? He went around smiling and having a good time while causing disasters everywhere he went, and was completely unaware of it. Kinda like my wife. Recently the state sent a thing about vanity plates in the mail along with her registration renewal and I looked it up and MS MAGOO is available. I'm tempted.

You know that could be interpreted as she being the wife of the Mr Magoo, right?

Last time I visited my daughter she was rocking the worn down Dead Kennedys Nazi Punks Fuck Off t shirt I’d passed down to her while she was mucking out stalls. I thought that was cool.

She also has one my wife gave her - Elvis Had A Stinky Butt

Nice shirt collection Djongo. Looks like by the time Lollapolooza made it to Saratoga, the tshirts were more basic. One of my only shirts from that era that hasn’t fallen apart completely.

I wish present day me could shake some sense into 35 years ago me and get that me to listen to more than the Grateful Dead. I missed the chance to see so much music that I didn't get into until I retired from the Dead and jam bands in the early 90s.

MRS FUGGID is not available, at least not in California. Belongs to a friend of mine.

I was lucky enough to be in the DC/RVa. music scene from '79-'89 and saw a shitton of live shows. And had many shirts that were worn threadbare. My poor parents never really censored my sketchier, more crass graphic ones. Judas Priest, Maiden, Gwar, Butthole surfers, circle jerks, the Cult, Plasmatics/ Wendy O., Lords of the New Church, Einsturzende, Revolting Cocks, and many Bad Brains/Rasta/Lion of Judah stuff.

1969 Ann Arbor Blues Festival. If I had never seen another live music show it would have been enough.

Right? I mean I did go see some pretty cool other stuff. But there was so much more out there.

Dope shirt. I was at that show in Minneapolis in HS. If I remember correctly, it's where ICE-T debuted Body Count. I remember looking at the security during Cop Killer... thinking "This is awkward."

At war with pack rats in my garage. They shit everywhere and never take the bait.

Finally, caught 4 in last week. Also, found the entrance point and filled it with foam.
the drugs made me realize it's not about the drugs

MC5 at the Grande Ballroom in Detroit. I posted that in another thread. The Stooges were memorable too. I was googling the other day. MC5 are all dead. Shame.

Perry Bullard, a state congressman, used to smoke at the Hash Bash every year.
When the cops used to come to our house parties to ask us to turn it down they ignored the people openly toking in the hall.

    Body Count ...

I liked Ice-T and way into hard rock but they just couldn't find the right sound. Backing band was challenged and the lyrics were, hmmm, thoughtful?

" my job is eatin these doughnuts"

I think I still have this on a cassette tape out in the waxroom.

It's amusing that Cop killer singer now plays a cop on SVU.

A fairly astonishing career, honestly. But yeah, his rock ambitions were lacking.

Also, I saw a local JP kid wearing a Butthole Surfers shirt the other day. I asked him if he even knew who they were and he said no. I said-- go YouTube it. JP hipsters will wear all the cool, trendy US band t-shirts and have no idea what they're wearing. At first I roll my eyes, but then I realize that's their way of getting introduced to it.

My 9yo boy just discovered Greta Van Fleet and can't stop reloading Heat Above. Kinda cute. Which reminds me-- I have to show him Stairway to Heaven. haha. Or better yet-- I'll ask the collective-- Which Led Zeppelin song does Heat Above most mimic?

Robert Plant: "Yeah, I know who they are. I hate them."

Heh. Hash bash was always weird. Cops all around. People openly smoking. Long before current legalization Ann Arbor might have been the first. $5 civil fine. Some pricks blew weed smoke in cops faces just to get the souvenir ticket. lol.

Kick out the jams old goat!!

I hated them. One step above the Monkees. Barely. Herman's Hermits were awful too. Amazing how many really bad bands tried to imitate the Beatles.

"Everybody told me you can't get far
On 37 dollars and a jap guitar" Steve Earle, Guitar Town.

He never said anything about Chinese guitars though.
