First dog. I bought a f****** house, just so I could get this dog. He has seen me through four jobs, one layoff, five girlfriends, one wife, and one baby.

Like when I was at literally the lowest point in my life, when I had literally no one to lean on, he was my friend, my therapist, my wingman. Turner and Hooch, Huskier and Gus.

He's comfortable, he ate an entire pizza by himself (Lifelong question answered), doggy hospice intake is in a few days

Like you think you're a big man, you think you're hard...until your dog gets sick. I have never cried this hard in my f****** life.

I'm so sorry Huskier. This part ^^^ is what gets me every time about our 4 legged companions. I hope they know how much they've done for us. I'm positive Gus does for you.

Right there with you Huskier. My dog saved my life. The silver lining is he is not alone, he has you, and he doesn't have to suffer because of you. Take care.

Bittersweet. This ^ is a very important question. Glad you could be there for each other on this pursuit of knowledge despite knowing how the journey ends.

Huskier, so sorry to hear. At least you got to bring him home for some quality time. Godspeed Pupper.

This is the worst. I've been there....lowpoints and all.

I never, ever could have believed it at the time but a puppy eventually filled the void.

    One love.

    Sorry again Husky.

I got this for my wife after we said goodbye to ours. Walked by it tonight and thought of you.

Damn, Huskier, sounds a little like the relationship between me and my dog. I still really miss him. Sorry, dude.

Thank you for sharing that. Its uncanny how much a dog's passing can still bring tears to your eyes, even years after it happened. I think this line from the article helps to explain why.

"When we mourn a dog, we mourn a life we often witnessed in full, and a source of something close to an unadulterated good."

Yep, all of my dogs have been angels on Earth. If people were as good as dogs, this world would be such a different place.

By any measure, I loved my mom more than our dog. If I could bring one back, I’d pick her 100 times out of 100. So why, in the moment of their passing, did I cry for him but not for her?
    Exactly.

Thanks for posting that article. It helped to paint a picture of why I still hurt 6 years to the day of my Best Buddy's passing...

It's been some time since I've been able to login here.
This thread keeps coming up in my email notifications which means that someone's dog is making an impact in some way.

Two months ago we (Flexon Phil and I) had to help our dog Gypsy cross over the rainbow bridge after a short bout of seizures due to a brain lesion.
This was one of the hardest things, even more so than other dogs I've had to say goodbye to because we had her for such a short time, rescued her quite broken, so we put a ton of energy and love into helping her be confident and gentle. She went from broken to being an amazing dog (don't get me started about how much damage I'd like to do to the asshole that broke her in the first place)
She started having seizures and with less than a month we had to say good bye. Even though it was two months ago, I'm sobbing as I type this.

Here is a little video I threw together.

I guess it is time to call the vet for my Gunther. As of last Sunday night his arthritis is just to much for him to stand or walk anymore. Took him to the vet last Monday and she gave him his last librela shot and prescribed him some tramadol. With the tramadol he will let me help him up twice a day, maybe three times to go outside and do his business. Such a good boy trying to keep me happy. Maya is very confused as to why he isn't going for walks with us anymore. My daughter has been crying for three days as she adores Gunther. I keep pushing it down, hoping for a turn around, but my wife suggested it is time and I agree. Really sucks, as he has been such a good friend and just the best baby boy ever.

Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

Such a nice tribute to Gypsy, so sorry for your loss but so happy for the love you gave her.
