Anecdotally speaking, while the Mercedes may have "more shit to break," the Audi will HAVE more stuff that breaks that normally doesn't on other cars. Haha. Don't get me wrong. I'll drive an Audi too but they're WAAAAY more of a pain in the dick to wrench on than the average Mercedes, and only on my Audi have I had so many interior trim pieces break. From the crazy over-engineered glove box hinges (with these little gas pistons for soft open - WTF?) to the visor clips to buttons turning to goo to the panels of the back seats breaking off. It was never ending. BUT on the plus side, thanks to the strong aftermarket on fleaBay and Amazon, all of these items were ridiculously cheap to fix in all honesty.

On the flipside, although it's only my first Mercedes, the plastics (except for the cheap-o window switches) seem to way better quality and working under the hood is night and day easier to deal with. Do a simple belt change on an Audi, then do it on a Mercedes and report back.

That all said, I still do love Audis. Just don't fool yourself that you'll have any less stuff to deal with than on a MB.

New Audi S5 Avant (A5 is the new A4) I’ll be curious to see the RS and Allroad trims but this looks clean.

ETA: Audi fucked up the rebranding of their font/typeset for the badges. Even through all the garbage design language changes BMW has made over the past decade+, the one thing they were smart enough to not fuck with was the badges.

Agreed. Not sure why they did that. Looks like a type setting error.

Went to the dealership to ask about an issue with the current car. This was on the floor and is now my new current car. Haven’t stopped smiling since. Wanted one of these for a while now. Glad the pieces fell into place. I have the old badge style. Click image for larger version.

I owned two 1st gen AWD V70s in college/my 20s (98-00). Id stay away from this gen at this point- parts are getting difficult to source.

Never owned a second gen- 01-07, but I would absolutely buy an 06 or 07 XC70-
Updated/better AWD in these years. This is what I was looking for when I stumbled into my 2010 XC70 T6, which I have been loving.

If you are looking at 2008+, the 3.0 T6s have a reputation for being generally reliable and fun to drive, with a big serpentine belt/tensioner maintenance due at 130k. PCV is an issue on these but is an easy job, needs to be done every 100k or so.

2011 was the year they went from 285 to 300hp and got a better trans tune.

The 3.2s are not as peppy, some had oil burning issues but reliable otherwise, and also has the 130k maintenance.

Nice rig. Lucky kid. I would've given my left nut for that when I was his age. Plus they're nearly indestructible in a crash.

on the lighter side, anyone else running the fcpeuro kits with the flush & ceratec?

Lol. You know too, eh? It's all good tho. I'd drive another Audi in a heartbeat. Like DeepHelmet's above. Muahaha.

Yup! In fact that is now SOP every time I purchase a new car. I run the flush with cheap oil. Change filter/oil, then flush the flush using cheap stuff like Kirkland Signature or Wal-Mart oil. Doesn't matter. Then do a final filter/oil change but using Liqui-Moly or Motul + the Ceratec treatment. The flush pulls out a CRAZY amount of crap the first go around (on a 100K+ used car at least) so I believe in it. Did this routine on my C30 (post-head gasket surgery), then my project S60 (post valve replacement/head refurb), and most recently when I did my first oil change on my E350. Shoot, thanks for the reminder. I need to change my oil on it! Haha.

    Does this thing count?

Scored a Metris van converted to a pop top at the beginning of the month.

Got rid of the Forester, kept the Allroad.

So far so good, got my 14 month old out for her first overnight camping trip!

Those are really nice, congrats! I seriously considered, but too rustic for my non-camping wife.

Nice score. I would love to make my pos a pop top. I still think of the good times had in my old 74 high top van that I always wished was a pop rather than an 18" high fiberglass sail. It sucked to drive in the wind.
