That's a common Toyota button for part-time 4wd, so a kind of diff-lock for the front tires, but they won't be engaged 100%. It's a passable form of 4wd that will help out in snowy conditions, but won't get you out of the stuck shit-storm you're in. The most free front wheel won't engage as all power is going to the stuck wheel... which is spinning like Homer Simpson.

Ask me how I know.

And yeah, that has way more than 64K on it. My 7yo rig has over 100,000km on it and I have five kids. Still looks new.

Also, a lot of those rigs aren't even legal in the states... they don't pass crash tests. No crumple zone. A 30mph crash into a telephone pole and you're dead. My wife lost a 19yo coworker last year in one of those. Poor kid fell asleep driving home and hit a pole on a practically residential street. /sorry for the trauma relapse.

As I understand it Canada allows importation from Japan on vehicals sooner than America so car has to be > 15 yrs old to bring into Canada and I believe > 25 yrs into America so these are gona be pretty fucking old and worn out

I drove a Toyota surf (4 runer) with a non-turbo diesel for a shuttle and that thing was slow, at 60mph forget passing anything on the highway, when the motor broke big time it cost the owner a bunch of $$$$, she should have just bought a 4-runer

another bud just recntly bought a turbo diesel pu so I asked him about it and he said he really liked it except for the part where the engine fuckdup

people buy them and figure the diesel engine is gona save money on fuel and be cool but the milage figures are close enough, the diesel often costs > RUG for no net saving

so no $ saving on fuel/ slow as fuck/ service headaches ...hard pass

I've been a hardcore Ford guy my whole life. I believe I've owned six Superduties and have never had any issues that weren't wear and tear like glow plugs or starters well passed 6 figures.

Last fall I bought a '23 F250 after attempting an F150 for a few years previous and simply not loving the tow situation over passes, etc. It was great for the most part but definitely under gunned with the flatbed trailer and equipment or four sleds on ice, etc.

The F250 has 20k miles on it and has been to the dealer six times. First five were a well documented sensor issue that would disable traction control--not ideal where I live. The dealer finally fixed it last week and then the AC went out on the way home (another well documented issue with these trucks).

I am lucky in that I happen to know the owner of the dealer and they've treated me very well, have been super responsive and have owned the issues. Even luckier, I have enjoyed dealer pricing for a number of years now. So to be clear, I'm not here to bitch about my experience so much as post a heads up about the newer Ford HDs. They have simply tried to modernize waaaay too much to meet Joe Blow's need for big touch screens and those admittedly fantastic ballbag coolers.

Anyhow, be aware that these trucks are having some serious issues that Ford apparently cannot readily remedy.

Yeah, I think they are all like that. Anecdotally, by friends seem to be doing best with GMC. I've decided that I'm just gonna try and keep the miles down on my '13 F250 6.2. The newer ones just cost so much money to do the exact same thing. And it's 100 miles to the dealer.

Probably get a Euro Status Wagon for proper ball bag treatment.

I owned a 2022 F350 for about one year. Ridiculously sloppy build quality. Dealers do not give a shit about addressing any of the build defects.

That was the first and last Ford product I will ever own.

Yeah, that's what I'm reading...GMC seems to be the least problematic right now. I should have hung on to my 2016 F250. It was the balls.

My old man is selling his Dodge Ram Heavy Duty 3500 if anyone is interested. 2017? 2019? I don't recall. Hit me up if you're looking for a proper towing rig. I know he takes good care of his rigs. But he sold his 5th wheel... doesn't need the towing capacity anymore. Located in WI. He's always been a Chevy guy but wanted this monster for roadtrip USA retirement summers... then couldn't stop raving about how much truck it was. "I can't even tell I'm towing 35,000 pounds."

What's the most crazy to me is that you can get an XLT for about $60K and a King Ranch/ Platinum/ Whatever is $120K. That's a lot of extra cheese for farkles on what is mechanically just about the same truck. That bullshit is what frequently breaks and your local mechanic has no interest in fixing. Sick automatic fold down running boards that don't work when they are frozen bro.

Was south of Knoxville, Tennessee on the 4th, and came back to find a piece of trim pulled lose from behind the hood, my windshield wiper with its rubber pulled off, the trim on my bed cover picked, and a rubber bumper on the bed cover pulled lose.

Talked to a fellow and he said they did $5,800 in damage to his truck at another boat ramp near me.

Turns out it is becoming trendy for the vultures.

So far 5000 trouble free miles on my 24 Chev 3500 LT. Very pleasant ride(IFS) makes it a lot easier on those long travel days vs a solid axle. Not a single defect, tech is good, and the duramax rips as you youngsters would say.

IME on a hot shot with 3000 lbs of drill gear the ride is smoove like an old caddy,

Ford generally does an excellent job packaging shit so you have to pay for extra farkles to get some of the functional upgrades, at least with the F150.

Want 4A and electronic adjustment of power delivery rather than traditional 4Hi/Lo/2Hi? Gotta get at least a Lariat.

Want modern (LED) lighting rather than halogen headlamps and incandescent tails? Gotta get a Lariat that's not the minimum package.

And once they get you into a Lariat, of course they make the additional farkles look more attractive in packages.

The Duramax system likes to go full balls. Anything less and they are skipping all over the place looking for the "pocket" as my buddy says.

FWIW, I spoke to the dealer today and my guy basically said all these new trucks have challenges but GM is "currently the least problematic."

We chatted about touch screens and all the extra bullshit and he said 90% of trucks they sell are in the top two tiers of their respective assortments.

Changes coming to 2025 Ram HD. Going to a single Cummins option, meaning the 2500 can get the HO. Trans is probably going to become a ZF 8-speed.

No new cab, but presumably chasis changes as they try to get the title back from Ford, which might happen for torque next year, but definitely HP. Rumor is a 7.2 litter Cummins could come down the road.

50k on a 2019 gmc base model 1500 quad cab, driving road trips and up and down LCC. Absolutely zero issues, just oil changes. Also averaging 17mph lifetime, which is pretty good considering canyon travel.
