Yes, your Turbo 850 Flatbrimed Highhorse is needed in Rueras.

Anyway, my money's on subtle in the ski off despite the fact that he's wrong about Briancon.

    I feel marketed towards?

The dream would be both. I've been into a bit of old bit of new on vacation and embracing both.

Just out of curiosity... has the date been set for this in 2025 yet?

Any old Turbo 850 Flatbrimed Highhorse market segment will do. Don't take it personally.

But yeah, I while away the hours sketching different arcs between LG and Rueras. Modane or Grenoble? We've only done the Grenoble access, but Modane might make the train transfers easier except I don't speak Italian and can fumble through some cowboy French. Grenoble to LG transfer gets messy with more than 2. Plus I'd love to weave in a stop in the Tarentaise. In the best of scenarios, it will take at least 1 whole day away from skiing to do the LG<->Rueras junket.

It's being bandied about. Looks like it might slip back to March 16-23 or so. With Easter late in 2025, there's a little more wiggle room when skier density will be lower in March.

Thanks for the info - we're contemplating a 3 week Swiss ski holiday for our 25th, and I wanted to try to time it so we could spend the middle week at the Euro-BBI.

yes I'd deffo want wheels for both BSM und Briancon. It opens up loads. A bit of networking though and I'm sure you'd hook up with a local for some adventures.

Massively changed. A lot more leather, latex, rubber and figging. Best to stay away and try somewhere else

    Thanks for the tentative dates…

I am considering spending a month at Mt-Lodge and would overlap with Euro-BBI. I reached out to Vendul through the info @ e-mail about a bed space for a month and have not heard back. I’ll try to pm him here. Thanks to all who help herd the cats on Euro-BBI.

La Grave before Rueras is a possibility I'm looking at for next year. The Skiers Lodge midweek three-day guided deal seems pretty reasonable.

Some of us too, but the draw of St. Moritz is strong; I've had such good conditions there, it's massive between the 4 main areas and it's so easy to get to.

Doing both isn't really practical, so I'm on the fence.

Yeah I hear you. For me La Grave is just a bucket list thing I gotta do, and the sooner the better because I'm not getting any younger. I'm also considering St. Moritz if my wife decides she wants to tag along for a week. Apparently there is excellent XC skiing there and that's really more her thing. This is all wildly speculative at this point. Another possibility for a "big trip" this year is the Powder Highway in Canada. Been to Fernie but not beyond, so that's on the list too.

LG is absolutely amazing and a requirement for any hard core skier. But it's weird because it's 7000+ vertical feet is served by 3 lifts: 2 fixed grip gondolas in tandem and a t-bar serving the glacier on top that requires a long skate or tow in. There can be line ups in the morning, but once up on the mountain, it's rare to see other groups except at great distance. It's isolated with little to do on blow down days except wander the little villages on the ledges above LG proper or ski the relatively small Chazelet.

By contrast, St. Mo has everything, it's an amazing old town with lots of buildings dating to the 1500s and 4 fantastic ski areas with over 40 lifts for about $50/day (provided one stays in a local hotel) all connected by busses and trains. It's the ski town every ski marketer wants their place to be with Prada, Dior, Gucci and Michelin stars up the yinyang.

The powder highway is awesome too. Red and Whitewater were our favorites.

I'm all about the wild speculation.

La grave fits the first, fourth and maybe the third. Gary probably knew about La Grave before because he's not clueless.

And Chamonix and Verbier, so guess what I did I came up with ideas get get you terrain and snow with less stress and still being able to work and live.

Of course la grave is fucking great, especially for a season. But every one else thinks so too. The fact that you don't get my point is the reason why you live where you live.

Diablerets has plenty of tourists to work, but is a true town unlike whatever the fuck Verbier is. Oh right it's a "destination resort on a whole different level".

And oh no it rains when you work in the village down in diablerets? Soo?

And if you're in the magic pass area you have all that Variation for 400Chf. In verbier you have VERBIER for Show me your AMEX Black.

And by god. I've tried to Refrain from going personal, but here we go. As a mediocre rich ex pat totally full of yourself of course you're happy skiing Verbier and being totally oblivious.

In all those years you've never skied to the village from the top of g3000? Figures. You're probably in over your head skiing the combe.

It's the only new area I've been to in the last 10 years where I've actually been on the edge while people showed me around. There is so much terrain and it's big, has exposure nearly all the time and takes Route finding skills. I flat out refused the idea to to do one of the frontside variations which goes all the way to the left from the tram and into a completely different face. Nobody else skied it that day. On the second blue bird day.

The Black wall has opened up some of the sickest tree skiing options.

But I know why I ignore most of your posts.

In contrast to you I don't think my ideas, ski areas, places to live are better than everybody elses. Hell, im the guy who still goes to Engelberg despite hating crowds. Would I go there for a season? No. Would I recommend skiing there if I spent a season in the area? Sure.

And I know Gary so I thought I'd go in the direction he'd probably like for his son. You know shit and you prove it over and over again, Baz.
The enormous chip on your shoulder seems to have finally pierced your brain.

You don’t seem to have learned from the schooling you got from that meteorologist the last time you got on a roll spouting bullshit. And on the subject of the weather it seems your head was stuck up your arse when it rained all over your precious Magic Pass resorts last season.

And I’m sorry you shat your big boy pants in Les Diablerets but alas that doesn’t change the fact that’s it’s a fucking stupid recommendation for a season as everyone on here knows. But carry on making a clown of yourself if you like.

Now you’ve jumped on the La Grave bandwagon it seems you’re finally learning something. Well done!

ps as a Verbier knowitall surprised you’re not aware of the free skiing in Chamonix, Hellbronner, Pays de SB, Aosta Valley, PdS etc.

Pps I might not be back for a while as it will take a bit of time to get over the hurt of you ignoring my posts and calling me a rich, mediocre Baz :-)

I certainly won't miss you and neither will all the folks who know of your activities around Rueras.

Honestly, I'm astonished at your continuance here, I had thought there's a shred of humility in you.

The irony is strong in this one considering the location of the worlds best destination resort.

And Buster let it rest. We're not the ECRC.
Our soup is better. ( I may have doomed us all with this Statement, but the upstate thread seems really nice)

But I gotta admit I had fun sitting on the Couch today coughing and feeling sick. [emoji3]
