Yeahman - look up Engadin SkiMarathon. It's the big event in St. Mo. during early March. Just a taste of the caliber of flat skiing and environment.

Hi Bob, The reason I said it’s ok without arguing is pretty obvious, what could I have done?!? Say: oh no, please come I don’t want to have an empty room??? and you would have obviously replied, I’m sorry but we’ve changed our minds.
On the other hand, Bruce was accountable (credit card deposit) with the Andermatt Guides and they are not naive like me, they want their money.
As a reminder: the spirit of the BBi is not just skiing, but it’s about getting together with like minded folks from half the globe and snow conditions don’t play a major role…. And if someone “belonging” to this group and that is constantly 3 hrs away from here can’t show up because of “poor snow conditions”…. Well that says it all on how highly I can think of you. Happy to be Proved wrong

Then at the last minute he tells me others had pulled out but he wanted me to pay for it. That is a strange logic. Despite that, I offered to make a contribution that he turned down saying he’d sort it out. And then he comes on here 2 years later saying he had actually booked the guide for our group and we left him out of pocket for 650chf. Which he subsequently changed to 150chf. I don’t know what he told you but from what he’s written in this thread it’s pretty clear he was not truthful. I will chime in to say that I've hung and skied with Buster, and loved every fucking second of it and found him to be a capable skier and fun & interesting. I've met & skied with Subtle and found him to be a super solid skier, great company and an all-round cool guy. I've met and stayed with Vendul and enjoyed every damn minute chatting with him and think he's one of the coolest lodge owners I've ever met.

Bob, you couldn't be bothered to drive a couple of hours to meet some guys that flew in from the other side of the world to ski in your zone. The skiing when I was there was fucking sublime and you couldn't be bothered to jump in the car and ski a day with us. That says a lot about you.

The friend I was planning to come with pulled out on me so I contacted Vendul to ask if it would be ok to cancel the room. I actually followed up by email with him to make sure. I posted his reply due to Busters false accusations. He gave me no indication it was a problem. I’m sure he is a great host and I apologized to him above if it did in fact leave him out of pocket. I would have fixed that at the time if I’d known.

It is a 7 hour round trip to Rueras and the conditions were poor. I also have other responsibilities to juggle. No one else has the right to judge the decisions I make on that.

What I absolutely object to is Buster accusing me of committing to a guided day and then letting everyone down and not paying my fair share. This is categorically not true and not something I would ever do. If that is my MO then why would I have messaged Vendul twice about the room?

As you can read in this thread I made a show of interest in guiding on the Sunday, but made clear I had to check with my friends. The reply to this was that 5 people were already confirmed so there was no space. It is there in black and white above. I did not give this further thought. I do not understand how a sensible person takes this as a confirmation. When you book something you check with the people confirmed. No one came back to me saying they were reserving me 1, 2 or 3 places? Is that normal to you?

Buster then contacted me saying some people had pulled out so he was out of pocket. I asked him why he wasn’t asking the people who had confirmed and pulled out and he didn’t have a reply. I offered him 50chf as a goodwill gesture as I genuinely felt bad if he’d been left out of pocket seeing the effort he’d put into organizing the trip. He then said I’d need to pay 150chf. I questioned why he was laying this on me rather than the other people who had pulled out and he told me he would take care of it. That’s the last I heard from him. I don’t see him questioning this?

This is not about whether you like or dislike someone. It’s about whether you think it’s ok to publicly accuse someone of something they didn’t do and slag them off based on a false narrative while getting your pals to pile in.
