Thanks everyone for dropping the knowledge on me.

Another question....will there be anywhere to ride tomorrow? Forecast is 60 and sunny...but what dries out first? I certainly don't want to ride any mud or damage any trails, I can ride the stationary bike I guess. Will Red Hill dry out by 1pm?

It’s a beautiful day, but somewhat chilly. The Pass, Bells or any paved MUT, like the Rio Grand, is better than the stationary.
I bet Sky Mountain dirt, will be really good, at some point.
I will ride down and check it out, in a little bit.

    25f @ 6:30 I try to climb in sun.
Melton to Mountain View was still frozen, but will be muddy later.

    I’d give it 24 hours.
I’m going to ride the Pass, since it’s the last, car less day.

Red Hill is almost always the best bet. If it’s been dry for a while before a rain it’ll usually soak everything up real quick and ride great. It’s been sunny down here for an hour or so already today so I’d guess it’s good to go by early afternoon. Melting snow is the main thing that gets red hill muddy, not usually rain storms. I’ll likely head up there after work

Ran up smuggler and checked out HC Valley. I’d stay off of upper valley trails today.

The Pass is delayed until at least the 30th.

Lots of work going on, but it was beautiful and looking fairly fat!

Red Hill road great today at lunch. It is always a ball buster, but unless there are a bunch of trails I don't know about (I mean, there obviously are, but based on location I am guessing they are similar to our other local trails), Red Hill is pretty unique for the valley. It would be an awesome accomplishment to be able to ride that trail all the way to the top clean with no stops!

It’s the best. Only sort of similar terrain to it is the Sunnyside descent and a few parts of upper grandstaff

I ride it a couple times a week since it’s so close by and it’s never dull. You’ll start cleaning everything if you ride it enough. It’s also significantly easier now after the work they did 2ish years ago. The S turn towards the bottom of 3 gulch is prob the hardest feature now and that used to be one of the easier ones. I’ve been working on cleaning the lower blue ribbon climb but that’s an aerobic feat to get it in one shot

That stretch of basalt rock seems to get me. If I was completely fresh…maybe. But after coming up the rest of the trail, when I get to that part, I don’t have the pop in my legs. Gotta keep riding.

Yes, that one right turn at the beginning (I think like the third switchback) is a bitch to clean.

More snow upvalley last night and moisture coming tomorrow; hopefully Open Space can get some closure signs out on trailheads. I was at Snowmass Rec, Intercept Lot and Buttermilk in the span of 30min on Wednesday afternoon and saw far too many jokers pedalling out for an afternoon ride - four hours after there was snow on those trails...

My wife rode Smuggler+BTS yesterday midday before the moisture and said it was mud-free and tacky. Maybe we can ride trails again on Monday???

What's the word from SkiCo about skiing on Aspen Mountain? That used to be a thing, but there hasn't been a peep either way this Spring. Is there some other big construction project happening up top right now that negates running Three?

Probably too many projects to worry about keeping the road snow covered for lift 3 access

Another ~5" last night on Ajax. What are we at, 30" for May?

I ended up squeezing in an Airline lap yesterday afternoon between sprinkles and before the evening deluge. Some neighbors had ridden after lunch and said it was dry/tacky and it indeed was primo. Big rain last night, but Monday should be good up there. Headed to the Midvalley today for some riding and the bike park

Not sure, but that would be cool. Might have to hop some road cuts. Word on the street is that they’re doing some major repairs on 3, so that nixxed skiing.

Glassier-Buckhorn rode super well; best I’ve ever had. But I only ride it once a year….

Dry except for one huge snow pile. You can ride/walk around but it’s muddy there. There were a few trees down the other day but they have might have been cleared.

The Pass is skiing great; we just skied a quick 4th of July lap with friends.

But man were there a lot of cars everywhere - hundreds and hundreds of people out yesterday. Literally people on every peak/summit you could see from the top

It's a different scene now. I do want to get up there one day this spring but have been booked this week and next week. Not sure if I'll catch an opportunity.
