Goodbye to the couch this fall. I don't think it was a secret that it would be taken out. I do wish they would replace bell mountain with a highspeed triple (or a double would be quirky and cool) and actually run it. Going all the way down to the gondola and having to ski little nell every time you hit bell mountain and gents ridge sucks.

Just gotta air the cat track into Slalom, slash Lazy 8 gully and pop back out to the gondi But seriously, a decent option in place of Bell would be clutch.

Yeah, no surprise that the Couch is leaving. The real bummer is SkiCo continuing to make the wrong PR decisions. They were going to roll into the removal with apparently no announcement. They only released a statement once the ADN came calling last week...

Didn’t they build the Gents Ridge replacement last year? You just need to take the Hodge Podge traverse to the Hero’s chair. The Couch only ran a couple days a week last year anyways.

I guess I liked skiing fast through Congo Triangle below the Couch when it had people on it.

Replacing Bell Mountain with a triple chair (or quad) would be pretty sweet and make a lot of sense. If it ran consistently.

Pass Gents along to a smaller ski area where it will run every day and really make a difference.

Removing the couch was always the plan after completion of the Pandora's expansion. The same "master plan" said they would likely relocate the bottom terminal of the Bell chair up somewhere into Copper (there is a good spot near the intersection of Copper and Copper Connector). Lots of changes happening at Skico after Jim's passing so who knows if the rest of that plan will still get executed.

    edit: here's an old article - https://www.aspentimes.com/trending/...mountain-huts/

I'm happy with Bell just as it is, as long as they run it!

Moving the base is stupidly. Can't ski Jackpot, the Face or the Dumps.

The only time I'll miss the couch is early season, before Copper.

    Hard to argue with this.
100 % disagree, coming from someone who has been in the valley 34 years. Sick lines to the SE but you keep on skiing over on Walsh’s.

This is all true. The Aspen master plan has been linked here previously (Probably an older thread) that shows what is described.

Rich Berkley proposed the Bell Mt.
change. Now that he's gone, hopefully, it's dead.
    It's just a terrible idea.

Yes…and I have read it before, but it also appears that something being in the “master plan” doesn’t move it much closer to happening than me saying they should do it.

I caught the movie Champions of the Golden Valley last night at the CB film festival, and it looks like it's playing tonight in Aspen. 10/10, would recommend. See it if you can

No doubt. How long until AspenOne sells their home office and everyone who is newly hired is remote because they can't afford to live in the valley. I know a similar org that's dealing with that reality for mid-upper leadership

    That thought makes me sad..

Hopefully they mostly backfill with community oriented, slightly less old soon to be stalwarts.

Carbondale had the most rain, 1.1", in the state. Dirt should be good, eventually.
Taking a little longer to get rolling this morning, maybe a good thing.

Ended up riding up and down Ajax with a buddy. Not so muddy until we wrapped above NASTAR. Scotty’s was sporty; leaves were stunning

Riding up the Summer Road was kind of the benchmark back in the 80's. Now hardly anyone does it.

Has anyone used or have an opinion on European Auto Works/ Simply Euro shop in Glenwood?

Looking for a shop to work on my wife's Q5 TDI. Thinking of adding a Stage 1 tune.

Pretty sure I saw you riding down while I was hiking up. Looked like fun, was great weather on the hill.

Today was even better. Just because no one else was riding.

I hope they figure out the Ikon deal for next summer. Personally, my business doesn’t buy our passes until September each year.

This summer they announced if you buy a 24/25 Ikon pass, you get 1 day at the different bike parks.

Would love to have that next summer attached to this years Ikon and not have it be used as a way to get people to buy earlier.

I have my doubts that they would ever make this possible though.
