Seriously, that's the bill that gets y'all riled up? It's a shit messaging bill. There's quite a few other bills that were signed that are significantly more detrimental.

The GSL mining bill got un circled and passed today. That's good news.

Don't worry, there's one day left in the session. Nothing ever happens on the last day.....

The bill giving $1 million to the fuckwad developers of the Kane Creek abomination to create awareness about workforce housing is a special kind of Utarded fuckery. Kael Weston’s brother is one of the developers.
I love my Utah friends and enjoyed the vast majority of my time there, but goddamn that place is a special kind of fucked.

    Haha. Ugh. Yep, checks out.
The gravel pit bill was a step too far, b/c a bunch of hillbillies might make a pit next to some future fancy houses….but yeah, give a cool mill to some rich guys building luxury units on Kane Creek.

I'm not sure the gravel pit bill is dead yet. There are actually 3 bills. 172, 303, & 502. It's been a shell game. I betcha one will make an appearance tomorrow.

Don’t forget their tireless efforts to remove plan reviews, permit requirements and building code inspections/enforcement.

Then the comments on news stories when a house slides off a hill are always “why did the city allow that to be built!”

Utah politicians bringing the lolz since 84 ( thats when I first was exposed to it) .

You nkow e the Utah Legislature passed a measure in 1983 dubbed the Utah Cable Television Programming Decency Act, which restricted “indecent” programming to the hours of midnight to 7 a.m. Under the terms of the law, programmers like HBO and Showtime would be prohibited from airing R-rated movies 17 hours a day.

Although programmers quickly obtained an injunction preventing the law from being enforced, Utah spent up to $2 million defending it over the next four years and losing at every turn. In 1987, the U.S. Supreme Court, by a vote of 7-2, upheld lower court rulings declaring the law unconstitutional — a violation of the First Amendment.

now double that amount for federal land lawsuits in the 90s & 00s.

Party of fiscal responsibility my big white ass.
Hahahha. You actually think cops and soldiers get thousands of hours of training to be able to carry a firearm? Got any source for that? Special forces gets thousands of hours of firearms training. Cops maybe get a couple dozen. Most soldiers that carry a firearm but won't be expected to use it on a daily basis, are a lot closer to the training cops get than the amount spec ops guys get.

Most people I know leave the firing range when the cops show up to practice because the cops are scary with guns. Not all of them, but at least some of them. . The average cop has na iq or 80, 20 points below the national average, and about the very lowest the military thinks is even worth training at all. Seriously, below that, and they have decided its not worth the trouble of trying to teach you anything and they dont even want you.

The more things change, the more they stay the same....

The watershed protections are all that has saved us from more of this dumbfuckery & Mike Noel and others have been trying to weaken those for years but it was literally the first thing city gov ever did.

Spending time at the sportsmans caucus this year was eye opening as there are some that are clearly angry, and only trying to do the ‘right thing’ for financial contributors or industry, and others that really care. I’m buckling up for today.

Crews detonate ‘ancient dynamite’ sticks found in Holladay home

    https://ksltv.com/639565/crews-deton...holladay-home/

Apparently a substantial amount of dynamite passed down a few generations. I was cruising around on the bike yesterday heading to Big Cottonwood and ran into a closed street with multiple emergency vehicles, a giant ops tent, full gridlock. This was in one of the nicest neighborhoods in the valley btw...

Generational wealth takes on a different meaning when it ends up blowing up the house the kids are hoping they'll inherit.

They just blew it up inside the fucking house? Am I reading this correctly?

I’m no explosives expert but it doesn’t sound like the bomb squad fellas they had on hand for this one are either.

Grandpa used to be on a road construction team. He left it down to his son, who left it down to his son.

As for the house..... Might be an improvement. The bomb squad decided it was best to use the basement as a bunker, apparently the sticks were leaky AF.

Once they start bleeding you don’t want to be moving that shit. Way better to cook them off in place. Better a controlled demolition than an unexpected detonation in transit.

Was gonna amend my OG post to clarify. Some of the nicest houses in the valley are nearby. That particular house does not make the list, and it's not much worse now than it was before it blew up
