Not a satanist; I am a school teacher though, so feel like I am affected by a lot of what they try to pass/do/talk about.

Naw - I'm just pointing out that the Satanic Temple would be the organization likely to sink such a stupid law, should it actually pass.

Teacher you say? Good news. Rep Jimenez wants to pay you to bring your gun to school. What could possibly go wrong?

If I taught school, I would absolutely be carrying a gun everyday.

This is lurching towards a whole different thread we have on this forum, but I think there is far more risk of a single teacher getting their gun taken off them by a mob of students than times it would be needed for self defense/school shooter incident.

I just try to form positive relationships with my students; I respect them and learn about their lives in and out of school, and hope that's enough to not end up on any hit list.

There is a reason that soldiers and law enforcement officers receive thousands of hours of training in firearms and tactics. This training is physical, mechanical and, most importantly, psychological, because in order to efficiently and effectively kill other human beings in high-stress situations, one must be conditioned to negotiate that stress.

Utah politicians bringing the lolz since 84 ( thats when I first was exposed to it) .

You nkow e the Utah Legislature passed a measure in 1983 dubbed the Utah Cable Television Programming Decency Act, which restricted “indecent” programming to the hours of midnight to 7 a.m. Under the terms of the law, programmers like HBO and Showtime would be prohibited from airing R-rated movies 17 hours a day.

Although programmers quickly obtained an injunction preventing the law from being enforced, Utah spent up to $2 million defending it over the next four years and losing at every turn. In 1987, the U.S. Supreme Court, by a vote of 7-2, upheld lower court rulings declaring the law unconstitutional — a violation of the First Amendment.

now double that amount for federal land lawsuits in the 90s & 00s.

Party of fiscal responsibility my big white ass.

It hasn't hit the news yet, but Natalie Cline is a horrible fucking person and I'm appalled that she has anything to do with the education of my children.

Oh, the news has it. Granite School District is contemplating extra security at some of their events now.

The level of vile hate she spews is unreal.

One of the better parts of this saga is that the state politician who called for a Cline to apologize on fb also publicly posted details about an athletic tribunal that she legally shouldn’t know, according to a state law that she had put forward.

The 64oz stanley was made to hold enough vodka to get through an Utah PTA meeting.

I saw Cline’s original post before she deleted it with all the horrible people commenting. It was funny to see Birkeland commenting all high and mighty. I wish I had screen shotted some of it. She kept deleting comments on her “apology” post except for two people defending her which were two of the most horrible commenters on her original post.

It really opened my eyes up to how many terrible people walk amongst us. I perused quite a few of their pages and found most of the worst commenters had pages espousing religious teachings and lessons.

Because most people don’t pay attention to school board elections. Her district is an extremely white area, quite religious at that. Apparently enough people like what she says? (They walk amongst us and act nice to your face.)

One of many reasons why I can’t stand religion and religious people. They are the worst of the worst walking among us.
